Suspect blocked surface water drains, 22nd December

Thu, 22 Dec 2022 11:11:12 +0000
54.297505 -2.733557

When it rains heavily a torrent of surface water flows over the two grids and down into the village. The grids have been cleared but I still suspect the drain itself is blocked across to the sewer. (which is probably 12 feet or so deep down the middle of Long Meadow Lane) Can these short drains not be rodded to clear them into the main sewer ??

I have reported potholes on here and I have just read what appears to be your disclaimer that you don’t report it to the council ..Can you tell me what you do,, as this has been giving me a false sense of security that you may have some influence in getting things done. Am I wasting my time thinking that you can help.

11inch hole and various holes also has been there over 6 months, 13th December

Mon, 13 Dec 2021 10:07:05 +0000
54.289536 -2.721722

I damaged my car at this location in June 2021 at the start of Bleaswood road and adjoining helmside road. I sent an e mail to Cumbria county council with what damage I had sustained to my front suspension and the cost of repairs ,the mechanic told me it was caused by potholes. CCC immediately threw some tarmac that was crumbly into the hole, they did not repair this properly, as the tarmac immediately came out with the first rainfall, SINCE then the pothole is still there and dangerous,I have to make dangerous manoeuvres to avoid it when I need to turn into Bleaswood rd from helmside rd and vice versa. My complaint to CCC was HMS .REF .W 2181049284 and they told me I was not eligible for compensation . The bill was for over £200 and I was devastated. I have been advised to report this to yourselves ,I am in fear of damaging my car again. Also I find that the parking on that stretch of Bleaswood Rd right down to the main road has large vans, this happens on a regular basis, causing lack of vision approaching the main rd ,leaving a dangerous situation ,equally when coming into Bleaswood rd from helmside rd the visibility of anyone coming down Bleaswood rd is impaired and this could cause a serious situation.

Long stretch of deep cracks and potholes, 21st June

Mon, 21 Jun 2021 22:50:22 +0100
54.286074 -2.739514

The stretch of road between Sedgewick and Natland is full of potholes, deep cracks and botched repairs. The worst section is the stretch closest to the railway near Larkhill Hall. Both sides of the road have strings of potholes several inches deep, and very deep cracks. This forces cyclists to ride around 4ft out into the road. This adds an additional hazard as motorists then feel that cyclists are being inconsiderate, whilst they are only trying to be safe

Potholes along major cycling route, 31st May

Mon, 31 May 2021 15:39:28 +0100
54.28378 -2.740793

Whilst not a cyclist myself I am somewhat concerned about the general road condition and several deep potholes along a major cycling route from Natland to Sedgwick. The road has been in a dire state for a few years. CCC use this route with spreaders in the winter and I dare say this has contributed to the poor state. Whilst pot holes clearly contribute with issues for vehicles it will only be a matter of time before a cyclist has a serious RTC and is left seriously injured or dead and then CCC will be possibly sued. The whole stretch of road needs resurfacing and the camber indicates this. Yours sincerely, Mr M Dodd The Old Barn High House Farm Natland Rd Sedgwick LA80JN

There are over 20 sizable potholes on Hawes Lane., 20th November

There are potholes all the way down Hawes Lane which are unavoidable now as multiple are placed on both tyre track lines of the single track lane. On the corner by the bridge the whole surface us undrivable and causes loss of control on a corner where the next place is the river!. From Prizet to the dual carriageway the side of the road is falling away so the left tyres cannot stay on the road they are sliced by the sharp tarmac every time you pass. The entire road surface from the canal Bridge to Natland is Dangerous where the cows cross near the 30mph speed limit the road has been patched but requires fully resurfacing as it is more uneven and Damaging than ever and several potholes have been left. This road is used by cyclists, dog walkers, children and residents who have no choice but to access their homes. I am a resident of Prizet and my vehicle is being damaged. I avoid potholes when passing pedestrians which puts them at risk on the side of the road. Nobody can see the potholes at the moment as they are full of water. The tarmac is all shiny where there is no grip as it is only pure tar that is left after years of this road surface. Someone will loose control of their vehicle and end up in the river if our road is not resurfaced soon. The alternative is for cyclists to cycle down the dual carriageway or the main roads to access Natland. Please ensure the whole road is assessed not individual potholes filled as they always miss some and never do a good job. Thanks
