Asbestos dumped, 24th April

Mon, 24 Apr 2023 11:29:49 +0100
53.975852 -2.775429

Whilst in the field next to the M6 I discovered that a full lorry load of asbestos roofing material had been tipped down the banking. it is about half way up the banking. I noticed this off my tractor in the field and the rubbish cannot be seen from the M6 unless seen by someone walking on the hard shoulder. Obviously the tipper did not want his work to be found. This needs urgent attention as it will pollute the water course close by

Advertised for months that the works at M6 jct33-32 would be until November 22, this is December and the road is still being closed at night. Usual tall tales from the National Highways.

Incorrect information on matrix sign, 16th November

Wed, 16 Nov 2022 14:08:00 +0000
53.989076 -2.781373

The matrix sign just before the Jct 33 exit southbound on the M6 has said for weeks that it takes 18 minutes to get to Jct 32 via the A6. This is totally impossible, it's more like 30 minutes. I have no idea why this sign has been like this for so long, but it is very misleading and could cause increased traffic on the A6 for no reason.

Poor Planning, 12th September

Mon, 12 Sep 2022 11:55:07 +0100
53.979651 -2.778798

Please refrain from the full M6 weekend closures; this has caused absolute chaos on the A6 southbound all weekend. Surely this work can be planned so that it is only overnight closures. Reports of people taking over 12 hours to complete this journey is absolutely scandalous and this should be rethought. We have four more alleged planned closures and this is making life absolute hell for local residents such as myself who literally are stuck all weekend.

Closure of M6 southbound junction 33 to 32., 12th September

Mon, 12 Sep 2022 11:39:22 +0100
53.984269 -2.777661

Traffic over the weekend due to road closures 4 hours to travel down the M6 to one junction. It’s creating barriers for people living in the area, couldn’t leave my house or visit vulnerable family members due to the heavy traffic yesterday. Please think about this for the forthcoming road closures on the M6

Closure of M6 southbound junction 33 to 32., 12th September

Mon, 12 Sep 2022 10:44:33 +0100
53.974277 -2.7719

I live in Garstang and use the A6 to get to Preston or the M6 at junction 32. The knock on effect of the M6 closure means a huge volume of traffic on the A6 for 8 miles. Whilst this is frustrating for motorway users it is also extremely frustrating for local people who for 4 weekends feel they are unable to get out of town due to the huge volume of traffic and the knock on effect of time to get to your destination. Could work not be carried out overnight to minimise disruption?

Total gridlock of an entire area, 12th September

Mon, 12 Sep 2022 10:31:48 +0100
53.982271 -2.780662

I wish to complain about the total gridlock of the above area due to the closure of the M6 southbound between J33 and J32, which I believe is also going to happen for the next 3 weekends. Have you any idea of the impact this has had on our area. We are basically going to be trapped in our homes. I have concerns over emergency services being able to get to where they need to be and also for the welfare of people trapped in their cars for hours on end. Also we have 2 universities in Lancaster whose students will be arriving on campus over the next few weeks which will compound an already intolerable situation. Could you have not implemented a contra flow system on the motorway for a week and just go on with the work and got it done? Please say you are looking into this!!

Compete Chaos, 12th September

Mon, 12 Sep 2022 09:57:18 +0100
53.977897 -2.776974

Please, please put something in place to allow traffic to flow southbound on the M6, possibly a contraflow to ease the situation on the M6. This weekend’s roadworks between junctions 32 and 33 on the M6 has put many people and animals in danger with ambulances being called out and tailbacks taking over 10 hours to clear. This is unconscionable and has to be rethought.

Huge delays and congestion, 12th September

Mon, 12 Sep 2022 07:40:11 +0100
53.982738 -2.778868

The weekend (x4) roadworks were appallingly managed. Very poor signage (Eg nothing at Jct 34 for southbound traffic). Total absence of pice or other official traffic management personnel on Saturday morning. Most significantly, to keep Jct 33 northbound exit off the M6 open created horrific traffic conditions in the Hampsin Green roundabout where traffic has to swap lanes. Reports of peoe taking up to 6 hours to travel from Lancaster to Preston. Finally, huge congestion on all the roads and lanes along the route (South Lancaster, Garstang etc).

M6 south Jct 33 closed for 4 full weekends ( Carnage )), 12th September

Mon, 12 Sep 2022 01:09:37 +0100

I am a resident of Lancaster, Lancashire and what a weekend we have just had, the city might as well have been shut down for the weekend and we have 3 more if them to come, I don't think I will have any hair left after I've pulled it all out, it was taking hours to drive into Lancaster on Saturday and the motorway was at a standstill, people were lowering bottles of water to drivers who were stuck on the motorway for hours without any refreshment, I understand these things have to be done on the motorway system but four weekends on the trot we are just getting over covid in the country and city and then have to have four weekends of our best two trading days taken away from us is a joke and not to mention the drivers who some had an extra 8 hours added on to there commute and all the extra exhaust fumes. Lancaster University starts back in a few weeks and we are expecting an Influx of parents dropping there children of, they will be expecting to drop there kids of and either stop for a few hours or go straight back, they might be able to leave the city on Monday morning, is rhere any chance this could be rethought we can cope with night time closures but four weekends of full closures in a row is to much, this was affecting the whole of the North of England, people in Kendal, Barrow, Penrith, Carlisle and other places were massively affected, thanks

Lack of suitable planning for volume of traffic on roads. Hours of traffic caused by full closure of M6 southbound. This is set to happen the next few weekends. A better system needs putting in place to keep one lane or contra flow lane

Road congestion south bound M6 J33 to J32, 11th September

Sun, 11 Sep 2022 18:56:09 +0100
53.980113 -2.779555

The full closure of the southbound carriageway on the M6 this weekend has caused dangerous volumes of different types of traffic on trunk roads and minor roads as people struggle to get to places while the M6 is shut. The small villages that lie on the A6 and the surrounding roads simply cannot cope with the heavy and diverse vehicles (today I followed a 40 footer truck slowly winding along the lanes), some being so large they hardly fit the lanes they are driving onto, this additional volume of traffic is causing near misses with vehicles and cyclists alike, for which this area is very known for the cyclist community. Traffic is travelling along the A6 causing long delays, also, traffic is now travelling within the trough of bowland where the lanes are not fit for purpose of large vehicles. The speed that some of these are travelling at is very excessive, and I am surprised a cyclist hasn't been killed, some vehicles still believe they are on the motorway doing silly speeds and being stupid. Why was a contra-flow system is not put in place on the motorway or even consider nighttime only closures is beyond me and our local community.

Unable to work as a carer this weekend, 11th September

Sun, 11 Sep 2022 18:52:28 +0100
53.982435 -2.780679

There appears to be no plan to manage local traffic travelling along the diversion off the M6 south-bound, as well as the knock-on effect of adjoining roads around Lancaster. I work as a care assistant and was stuck in traffic (off the motorway) for 6 hours. I was unable to complete all my visits in time.
