12 inch diameter pothole approximately 6 inches deep near road edge, 11th January
This pothole appeared approximately 3/4 weeks ago and is getting wider and deeper daily as it is directly in line with the nearside wheels of passing vehicles, many of which are farm vehicles and other heavy goods vehicles. It is situated on the nearside edge of the road as you travel west uphill, generally towards Bentham. Motorists with knowledge of the pothole are crossing into the path of oncoming vehicles on a blind bend in order to avoid damaging their own vehicles. This is creating a severe hazard as it means that vehicles travelling east are suddenly confronted head on with vehicles on the wrong side of the road, who are attempting to avoid the pothole. The hazard is aggravated as it is on a road to which the national speed limit applies. This road defect could cause a serious collision and is already causing damage to vehicles driving into it.
