Temporary repairs and potholes causing hazards for cyclists, 13th March

Fri, 13 Mar 2020 12:09:33 +0000
54.104439 -2.644629

The repeated temporary repairs to the section of the A683 between the Wray junction and Hornby have led to a very dangerous stretch of road for cyclists. The repairs are often of extremely poor quality and are above the existing road surface causing bumps and many of the repairs only las a single rainstorm reopening potholes. The combination of bumps and holes create a really hazardous stretch of road in which holding a line while on a bike is almost impossible causing swerves or having to cycle in the centre of the carriageway on a busy stretch of main road. This issue has been present for at least the last two years and this stretch of road is in desperate need of proper resurfacing.

This a yearly repeat that occurs every winter for the last few years. This whole patch requires a resurface to eliminate the problem. Patching up the pot holes is not reducing the problem. On numerous occasions vehicles have swerved at the last minute into oncoming traffic to avoid the pot holes.
