This landowner has previously removed 22 veteran trees from this hedgerow without a felling licence. Work has commenced to remove all of the hedgerow beside the lane used as a public bridleway. Part is within a Conservation Area. Under Hedgerow Regs 1997 it is both protected & deemed Important. It is an wildlife corridor & contains WCA protected species: roostingbats,nesting birds,badger,hedgehog,treecreeper,fieldfareredwing. There are Brathay Flags & at least 7 woody species & veteran trees including wych elm which supports hairstreaks. There are 24 of the designated woodland species,a trout stream of high ecological quality,aparallel hedge of high ecological quality & connectivity with trees, woodland waterbodies.

Defective sewer repair & resurfacing/Conservation Area, 23rd November
Unacceptable standard of resurfacing/not sealed following sewer repair 3.10.22. Sticky shiller all over road, rutted & disintegrating surface. 86 yr old lady lives here, unsteady on her feet, poor eyesight, walks with 2 sticks. Also 2 disabled people use rollators to come to co-op. This is in the Conservation Area, please can it be sorted out before the Christmas Fair 3/4 Dec. Thank you.

Pothole opened and very dangerous, 3rd August
Two cars that I know of have lost tyres hitting this sharp edged deep pothole. several cyclists have also come off because of it. There was a fill in done either to this pothole or one very near it but this is a danger and needs urgent attention.

Dangerous tree overhanging lane/ busy footpath/cycleway, 6th March
Diseased & dying veteran ash tree (ash dieback) dropping large branches onto lane. Lane is usually a busy footpath to Tarn Hows & Grizedale. Dead hanging branches & diseased limb above lane. Also risk of damage to Vicarage Lane flood debris screen & camera. I have had no response to my email to Environment Agency.

Street light out No 23 Wordsworth Street, 18th February
Street light out plunging archway into TOTAL darkness. Street light number 23 2 frail elderly ladies live opposite, this is very unsafe. There has been a problem with jackdaws roosting here. There is an error on the mapping. Vicarage Lane extends down to the archway & junction with Wordsworth street. No access for vehicles TRO & very narrow.

Constantly flooded road, 18th January
Every time it rains it floods my husband has to cycle to work through this every day in the dark very dangerous as can’t see if there is any debris in it. It can be here for weeks

Flood across the road, 18th January
The road floods quickly and stays flooded whenever it rains - difficult for cars but impossible for pedestrians and dangerous for cyclists. This started after the water treatment plant was built and is a constant issue- We have employees who cycle to work from Hawkshead and can’t get through - it clears in dry spells but is flooded more than it isn’t!

Damage to cobbles in Conservation Area,loose & hazardous to walk on, loss o, 12th June
Inappropriate heavy power washing to remove weeds has washed away the bedding for cobbles. (Herbicide previously sprayed by council; suggest weed wand more suitable).Numerous loose & exposed cobbles. Hazardous to pedestrians & loss of heritage. This lane is adopted as the street lights are maintained by CCC & appears as an Unclassified road with accustomed use as a Public Right of Way. There is an error on mapping as Vicarage Lane extends down to the archway. Red Lion Yard N is not adopted.

Blocked/ Broken Drain - Flood, 2nd March
This area is deeply flooded and the water has no where to drain, a new building was put up a few years ago and since then whenever there is rainfall it causes a flood. It is shallow enoughfor cars to get through, but walkers and cyclists have great difficulty.
