Where's the signage? (Methwold FP 11), 6th May

Mon, 06 May 2024 20:25:53 +0100
52.523353 0.551265

Norfolk County Council, please look at the photographs. The single, tiny roundel, just 95 mm in diameter, and bearing lettering which is just FOUR MILLIMETRES in height, obscurely placed on an east-facing wall, is grossly inadequate. The roundel is not visible at all, in the first two photographs, and is hardly visible in the third. How can anyone reasonably be expected to spot this signpost, from the Hythe Road? Hythe Road is wide, users of Hythe Road on foot, may be approaching on any side of the road - there's a footway on either side of Hythe Road, remember! Norfolk County Council, these small, 95mm roundels are intended for waymarking ALONG paths, aimed at those already on paths, and not in a situation like this. You are treating your statutory signposting duties with utter contempt!

No signage for Methwold FP 7, 6th May

Mon, 06 May 2024 18:26:47 +0100
52.522413 0.545943

Please look at the photographs. Although there is signage for Methwold FP 9 and for Methwold FP8, there is NOTHING to indicate Methwold FP 7, to the east. Norfolf County Council, this situation is actually misleading - because the other two paths are clearly signposted, this misleadingly suggests, to the public, that FP 7 doesn't exist. Please study the third photograph: The visible, beaten track IS NOT FOOTPATH NO. 7. I accidentally followed this path, thinking that it was FP7, and lost my way - even though, in my case, I already knew where FP 7 really goes. Norfolk County Council, you need to utilise appropriate signage to make the correct whereabouts of FP 7, between TL 7277 9468 and TL 7289 9467, much more apparent on the ground. According to https://maps.norfolk.gov.uk/highways/ the path actually changes direction at TL 7285 9468, something which is far from clear on the ground.

Signage needed (Methwold FP 7), 6th May

Mon, 06 May 2024 18:16:47 +0100
52.522361 0.547831

Norfolk County Council, please look at the photographs. How is anybody, unfamiliar with the locality, supposed to know where the path runs, through the grounds associated with No. 14? It is almost as though you are too shy to signpost this part of the public path, clearly. On the contrary, you have a duty to assist persons unfamiliar with the locality to follow the course of this path, and also to assert and protect the rights of the public as to the use and enjoyment of the path. Waymarking is needed at approx grid ref: TL 7295 9466, to indicate to the public, clearly and unequivocally, that the path exists, and where it runs.

Why no signpost? (Methwolrd FP 7), 6th May

Mon, 06 May 2024 18:10:13 +0100
52.522387 0.54693

Please look at the photographs. In most situations like this, where a public path goes through a gate, there would be signage to indicate the path, in either direction. Why not, Norfolk County Council? Why haven't you not signposted the path, here? In the absence of signage, the very existence of the path is far from clear, to anyone unfamiliar with the locality. Norfolk County Council, are you conspiring with the landowners to keep the public out? If not, then SIGNPOST THIS PUBLIC PATH PROPERLY!!! You are supposed to be asserting and protecting the rights of the public to the use and enjoyment of the whole of Methwolrd FP 7.

Inappropriate Norfolk County Council signage (Methwold FP 7), 6th May

Mon, 06 May 2024 17:57:41 +0100
52.522204 0.548561

Norfolk County Council, please look at the photographs. WHY have you placed the small waymark roundel, shown in the third photo, in such a low-down position? As demonstrated in the preceding photographs, the roundel is hardly noticeable, unless you already know where it is, and are almost on top of it. It is almost as though you are too shy to signpost the path clearly. You should, on the contrary, boldly be asserting and protecting the rights of the public, as to the use and enjoyment of this public path. As it is, this signage is a waste of public money (in terms of both materials and officer time expended). The signage needs re-positioning, as a matter of urgency.

Signage needed (Methwold FP 7), 6th May

Mon, 06 May 2024 17:49:09 +0100
52.522204 0.54869

Please look at the photographs. Clear signage is needed, at the location indicated in red on the map, to show the existence and whereabouts of the path, in either direction. In the absence of signage, the correct whereabouts of the path is far from clear, to anyone unfamiliar with the locality.

Fences (Methwold FP 7), 6th May

Mon, 06 May 2024 17:43:13 +0100
52.522204 0.54899

Please look at the photographs. Fencing has been erected, and the width of the signposted channel running between them is just 0.84 metre. Norfolk County Council what is the legal width of the public path, here, according to your Highway Boundary team? What evidence is there that the public path was dedicated subject to such physical restriction?
