Cars speeding, 20th July

Thu, 20 Jul 2023 08:19:38 +0100
51.619928 0.071251

Cars are frequently now using Chester Road down to Brook Way Chigwell to avoid traffic build up and any roadworks that have been in place - and go way over the speed limit along Brook Way to cut through the back of Chigwell Parade of shops to cut out the mini-roundabout on Chigwell High Road. This happens frequently and I've just witnessed two cars coming down there at 50+ mph with one narrowly missing someone walking at the side of the Brook (green area) tooting their horn at them and the person being really shaken up. Since road works happen often on Chigwell Rise with the Junction of Chigwell High Road, cars often cut through Chester Road and then speed down Brook Way, often in the middle of the road when there are cars parked on the left hand side - and when the Brook has not been mowed, you have walkers /joggers walking on the Brook side because the pavements on Brook Way are not flat . It's getting ridiculous. Speed cameras and the cables which detect speeds were put in place years ago - is this possible to do this again because it won't be too long before someone is hurt . I live in Brook Rise and so use Brook Way and the amount of near misses I've witnessed on that road - ask anyone who lives on Brook Way about the speeds cars go at and the near misses . This is a serious accident waiting to happen because of all the roadworks and closures going on - often at the Junction of Chigwell Rise and the High Road.
