Confusing lane guidance arrows, 10th December

Thu, 10 Dec 2020 19:02:41 +0000
53.841176 -0.476847

Taking the 2nd exit from the A1079 Beverley Bypass has confusing lane guidance arrows which I believe in the long run in a recipe for a crash. The arrows show a left arrow for the left lane, even though the left lane is also designated for the 2nd exit onto A1079 York, so its easy to assume the 2nd exit would be for York. However, if you use the 2nd lane, you end up in the lane for the 3rd exit, and have to cross lane to get onto the 2nd exit. Many people do this crossing over to get onto the 2nd exit, due to this confusion. All it would take is to change the sign so that the left lane shows both left and straight or something. This sign is still present today. Yes the text below says Use left lane for York and Walkington, but the lane guidance stands out much more and therefore I believe this should be changed. Thanks

An accident waiting to happen, 16th January

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 16:01:53 +0000
53.854408 -0.458517

Situated on the north bound lane approx 100 mtres past the planed new road where it would enter the B1248. This is the worse pothole I have seen along this stretch for a long time (and yet another one that has already been poorly repaired several times). It is about 12 inches wide, 6 inches across and 3 inches deep and getting worse every day as HGV's can not avoid it unless they cross the centre line. As this section of road is not lit, a cyclist who can't see it will inevitably come of their cycle if they ride into it. It is also deep enough to cause serious damage to a cars, tyres/wheels /suspension.

3 reappearing potholes, getting worse, 1st January

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 15:57:19 +0000
53.85518 -0.465619

Same 3 potholes reappeared, they have been reported at least twice previously by myself and were filled in around the 10th Sept, less than 4 months ago. I stated on 10th Sept that they appeared to have been poorly fixed and would not last long. It's about time they were repaired properly! They are both sides of my marker, about 100 meters north and south.

Hedge clippings, 27th October

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 12:21:58 +0000
53.858857 -0.475604

Once again we users of the Molescroft to Cherry Burton cycle path have to suffer the hedge-clippings sprayed over the path and not swept up by the irresponsible farmer along this stretch. I have just walked a mile home after a puncture. Why can the council not take action to ensure these clippings are swept up on the same day they appear? Surely this is covered under local bye-laws regarding litter? If I threw a load of nails on the adjacent B1248 and caused vehicle tyre punctures I would be charged with causing criminal damage. Why do cyclists have to suffer in silence over this irresponsibility?

Long cracks have started appearing in the surface along several lengths of this path between Molescroft and Cherry Burton. This hasn't been caused by vehicles driving on it and appears to be the result of movement of subsoil.

3 potholes re appeared, 9th August

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 14:35:19 +0100
53.854345 -0.457315

Bottom of Constitution hill on B1248, 3 potholes, 2 on the Southbound Lane and 1 on the Northbound Lane. All 3 potholes were repaired (sic) no more than 6 months ago. As can be clearly seen the material used has come out of the holes. Why can't they do a decent repair instead of just doing a quick fix. If they sub contract then the contractor should be made to return and repair at no cost. All 3 holes getting steadily worse over the last 4 weeks.

Ruined cycle path, 21st November

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 16:34:07 +0000
53.8544809483584 -0.456329769988992

The Molescroft - Cherry Burton cycle path is in a terrible state after (presumably) a local farmer 'thrashed' the adjacent hedge leaving thorns all over it and spreading thick mud onto the path and chewing up the verges with a tractor. This path is currently under siege from contractors installing water mains for, and accessing, the new development at Elm Tree Park (sic) and is virtually unusable, which I fear is a situation that will prevail for the next 12 months at least. This forces cyclists to use the B1248 Malton Road which is currently carrying heavy traffic destined for the building site, thus making it even more dangerous.

South bound near top of Constitutional Hill there is a repaired pothole that has been so badly repaired it is raised like a speed bump. In fact I don't know which rattles my car more, the original pothole or this very poor repair. The authority may not be responsible for the cause of a pothole, but they are fully responsible for any repairs they undertake. This is one of 2 in the area, see other report. I can't believe how badly this and the other pothole has been repaired.
