Obstructions, speed bumps, on road, 18th June
The landowner appears to have installed a series of new speed bumps, along the road/bridlepath, that are bolted onto the road and are particularly adverse for cyclists since they have no space for cyclists to pass them and they have a particularly severe impact on cycle wheel sized vehicles.
These are particularly unsuitable for a route that is part of a long-distance cycle route (Sustrans NCR 21) and which is a route used by cyclists of all ages and abilities.
Dismounting is not an option for the majority of users of adaptive cycles, such as hand cycles, tricycles, cycles with stabilisers, etc. Requiring a dismount for users of such cycles is a contravention of EA2010, S 20(3)(4) and constitutes an act of discrimination under Equality Act 2010, Section 21.
Since no accommodations have been made for disabled cyclists, or children, families using trailers, cargo bikes, tricyclists, and adaptive cycles in general, please confirm that Surrey Council, as Highways Authority, has approved the construction of these impediments on the road, and if not, what measures you will take to address the illegality of these obstructions.
