Road blocked and no work being done, 23rd January

Sat, 23 Jan 2021 10:20:04 +0000
54.704226 -3.451853

This road has been blocked for weeks and is due to be blocked for 3 months in total. Some people are having to drive an extra 50-80 miles a week to get around this. It wouldn't be a problem if they were working away and actually doing something but every single time I look at what has been done it is next to nothing. The workers are almost always sat in their vans eating or playing on their phones. There must have been about 2 or 3 days work completed in over 2 weeks so far. Not only is this causing issues for local residents but it will also be a big issue for Police/Ambulance/Fire services. If they are on the Dearham side and need to go towards Harker Marsh towards Seaton they would either have a huge detour or be made to use the frankly dangerous road to Broughton Moor that has incredibly tight S bends and would still put 5 minutes on top of a response time. Like I said if work is being done as fast as it can people can live with inconveniences, and the risk to emergency services has to be accepted, however, if the work is not being taken seriously and not being done at a reasonable speed (I can guarantee it is not) then someone will be held responsible if someone is not able to receive the care they need.
