2 very loose drain covers in road outside Ifor terrace, 20th April

Sat, 20 Apr 2024 08:15:59 +0100
51.567379 -3.543504

Since flooding in road the two drain covers have loosened and every time a car drives over them it sounds like a gun going off. As this is a very busy road the noise is causing a public nuisance, affecting sleep and general enjoyment of being in my own home and garden

Urgent appeal to demolish derelict garages V2C and revise parking layout, 18th April

Thu, 18 Apr 2024 19:20:23 +0100
51.577709 -3.546018

I am reaching out yet again after initially reaching out some time ago regarding parking layout within Pany-Yr-Awel. Valleys to Coast themselves have even visited many times to carry out property repairs and maintenance and have themselves struggled even during the middle of the day to find parking around here. Urgent action must be taken with my proposals and I would like each party to carefully review the attached screenshot where I shall reference parking limitations and issues. Right now, not every household even has a vehicle, and these parking issues are most present during non working hours, most typically weekdays 4pm - 11pm, and each hourly period before 9am when most people are parked. Outside of this range you'll find significantly less challenges. You see, my proposals must be actioned as soon as possible to better improve the situation. Currently, most cars park in non designated parking bays, which, entirely rely on common ground between neighbours to park their vehicles neighbours, which rarely happens as most neighbours do not care about others and/or target people and deliberately park inappropriately as to try and stop you from parking somewhere. Additionally, as per my screenshot, even when cars are parked, you can either not access your car because someone has parked too closely, or are parked in a way that blocks another in. The idea of "simply" asking someone to move never works because of conflict on the entire estate, and besides this, some people work shifts and need to go out really early whilst others don't work at all as such it's not reasonable to knock on people's doors every day for the foreseeable future to get them to move. As per my screenshot then, the marked areas in blue from a sky view shows on a typical day where some vehicles will park, it's quite clear that there is not enough room here particularly in the green area. Additionally, as highlighted in yellow, these garages which have previously been described as "unsafe", most of which are dormant and in poor condition already cannot even be accessed even if you wanted to given that vehicles are always parked here. (you can find additional evidence of all of this on the public service Fix My Street). The areas highlighted in red, mainly kerbed grass areas should be flattened, and tarmacked over, particularly the area to the right of the green marked area. Simply cutting this grass verge away would conform more to the requirements of the area in today's growing society and would create more breathing room for vehicles to move. Additionally, the grass verge separating the Valleys to Coast private road and the main road A4061 is quite simply too wide, cutting the width down off this by 33% - 50% would potentially allow cars to be parked on both sides potentially creating more room. Again, I'm not completely sure why given the number of emails over the past years have been mostly unactioned, so we need to get something actioned from this proposal as soon as possible.

Unsafe park for children, 11th April

Thu, 11 Apr 2024 05:22:38 +0100
51.571575 -3.571104

This park is currently open for public use however is unsafe for children to play in. The climbing frames/slides are very dirty and not in a useable state. The grounds of the park are dirty, covered in moss and very slippery. There is also a missing pillar that has been removed but left as a stump in the ground that my one year old fell over. The park is unsafe for children and needs to be looked into. This is the only park in the village that would be suitable for a toddler and being in the condition it’s in, it has taken a fun activity away from children and parents.
