B4254 Ogmore by Sea potholes in road, 9th February
Potholes on the Ogmore Road “B4524”
The Ogmore road from the Public Inn “The Pelican” and midway through the village of Ogmore by Sea is severely under repair due to poor road maintenance. The road surface has been damaged by utility companies not completing their due diligence in ensuring the road surface is returned to its original condition after laying cables or pipe work along the carriageway. The road has a poor camber in places where the road holds rainwater which undermines the road surface especially in cold conditions. The high volume of heavy building transport during the building of over 250 houses during the last few years has caused further damage to the road surface.
During the last few days a number of potholes have been repaired in a haphazard order not focusing on any particular area of the road. Yesterday (08/02/2023) I counted over a hundred deep potholes in excess of 25mm deep. The Ogmore village to Ogmore by Sea is a “B” classified road and has a large volume of traffic travelling along its length for residential and leisure use to the beaches. Albeit travelling along the road is like travelling along a farm track road in parts. The road is becoming hazardous for cyclists and road users as it is impossible to avoid the potholes as they are numerous in some areas (Portobello junction and bends).
This road requires a complete resurfacing with manholes reset and more functional road water drains. Please can you inform me what plans you have to enhance this road?
