Layby rubbish and waste a danger to public health., 25th January
Having suffered with engine problems I was forced to pull over in the layby on the A14 Newmarket Bypass (just before it merges with the A11) with my 5 year old Son. The amount of hazardous rubbish and dumped items was unbelievable and hazardous and put myself and my Son in a dangerous position. I decided it was safer to stay in a my car where the engine was smoking rather than risk standing on the grass verge. The layby needs to cleared on both sides of the road (and all of the layby along this stretch) before someone sustains an injury from the health and safety danger it presents. Is it too much to ask for bins to be provided (and emptied periodically)? I will be contacting the local councillor for this area, and looking at what further action can be taken as this poses a clear risk to public health and safety.
