Detritus from Sewage sludge storage, 1st May

Fri, 01 May 2015 10:10:35 +0100
52.340755 0.091307

There has been for some months what appears to be a human sewage sludge storage and dispersal site at this point. Currently Dam Bank Drove and parts of Long Drove are littered with what appear to be remnants of baby wipes, wet wipes, sanitary towel plastic backings, nappy sacks, cotton bud plastics and condoms amongst other degraded plastic/fabric materials which would seem to have blown out of the heap or from the transportation. These are ground into the drove surface and littered on the verges. This is highly unpleasant and I would suggest an operative from CCC actually gets out of their car and walks the droves in the vicinity of the heap on Dam Bank and around to Long Drove. And then has a look at all the wildlife around about , the marsh harrier, the yellow wagtails and partridges etc the water fowl in the drain and the clear water and abundant water weeds and considers whether the littering is appropriate to the area and whether those who walk and cycle on the drove should have to tolerate it and the possible health risks from contaminated materials. One realises there is a need for this dispersal but better containment seems in order.

Propane gas cylinder and rubbish, 1st May

Fri, 01 May 2015 10:00:06 +0100
52.340309 0.089526

A large propane gas cylinder is propped up against a pole carrying the electricity supply. There is a quantity ( some cultivated in) of rubbish left behind by travellers eg fast food containers, dog/horse harness, general plastic waste, old carpets etc. If the council is going to allow these fly camps they must clean up properly-this was formerly a pristine site and the area has a rich and varied wildlife. This particular rubbish issue has been present since the caravan moved on a few weeks ago.

Deep MUD Dam Bank Drove, 14th December

Sun, 14 Dec 2014 10:32:23 +0000
52.3410168219 0.0924447089843423

A leek harvesting contractor has been and another user is currently making this road almost impassable to car traffic and making no attempt to scrape the road to shovel or wash off the mud . This is an unclassified but PUBLIC road, maintained by the council, used by a small number of, but regular, users . If someone unfamiliar with this road used it at night time or in frost, they would be in danger of an accident. Dam Bank and Long Drove have HUGE potholes and broken uneven surfaces and the mud is making it much worse . Everyone understands how hard it is to keep roads mud free and is tolerant, but to not even attempt one clear up a day is just not on, it is riding rough shod over road users. The problem has been ongoing for a month.

No road name sign, 23rd November

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 19:53:28 +0000
52.3376736992556 0.118322661560041

Please can we have a road name sign, like most other roads in East Cambs?! For example the Droves around Pymoor/Little Downham all have road name signs. We are fed up with delivery drivers giving up because they can find us! Something like "The Boot leading to Dam Bank Drove and Long Drove" positioned on the fence over the Catchwater at the end of Aldreth would be perfect!

52.3477547401714 0.094719222228987

Many pot holes and high ridges where the sides of road have sunk along the length of the drove. The car grounds in places and is completely unavoidable even at very low speed. Only a matter of time before it causes serious damage to vehicles. Please note we HAVE to use this road to access our house. Long Drove is so poor a condition it is too risky to take an estate car down.
