Pennine Bridleway - danger to users. Immediate action required., 4th September

Fri, 04 Sep 2020 02:27:35 +0100
53.75174 -2.208564

The track in this section has been reinforced by the addition of several loads of hardcore. The problem is that this "hardcore" is comprised of a lethal mixture that includes shards of glass and pottery and strips of metsl, all of which are easily capable of ripping the hooves of horses, the pads of dogs accompanying walkers, and shredding the tyres of mountain bikes, all of which are legitimate users of this public highway and right of way. Immediate action is needed to avoid serious injury occurring to animals or humans.

Overgrown hedgerows and detritis on the footpath from The Holme to the Fishponds on Burnley Road Cliviger, 13th July

Sat, 13 Jul 2019 17:43:59 +0100
53.747018 -2.182944

The footpath is overgrown and full of detritus forcing pedestrians to walk in the road in an unrestricted carriageway. This has been in this condition for several months but due to renewed hedge growth is even worse. This runs from The Holme to the Fishponds on Burnley Road and is made worse to the fact that on this part of the carriageway there is only one footpath.

Severe littering along the Long Causeway, 18th May

Fri, 18 May 2018 08:29:30 +0100
53.756392 -2.16375

The verges of the Long Causeway from Mereclough to the county boundary at Paul Clough is completely strewn with litter, on both sides, along its' entire length - everything from drinks containers through car parts, clothing, cannabis plants and dead sheep. Given that this area is supposed to be a beauty spot, the state of the verges is disgraceful. It's very obvious that just over the boundary into Calderdale the verges are a lot cleaner. Clearly they take a greater pride in their surroundings in Calderdale...

Unpassable Footpaths, 7th September

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 11:06:25 +0100
53.764084 -2.202314

A lot of the footpaths around Cliviger are impassable with a pram or wheel chair due to overgrown bushes. In places these bushes have completely obscured the footpath making it necessary to go onto the road to pass. This is a problem around the whole parish, but is a far more dangerous issue on the A646 which has various speed limits ranging from 30mph to 60mph. This has been previously reported, but no updates have been posted and no remedial works carried out.

Rat Run, 20th August

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 15:42:50 +0100
53.767339 -2.194131

Greencliffe Lane in Mereclough is a notorious rat-run. Despite the fact that it is a single-lane road along most of its length with several blind bends and other difficult features, this doesn't stop motorists using inappropriate speed along this road in their desire to shave 30 seconds off their journey instead of going round by Red Lees Road and the Long Causeway. The problem could easily be solved by blocking off Greencliffe Lane at its junction with the Long Causeway. This would still allow residents access to all properties on Greencliffe Lane and School Lane, but prevent its use as a rat-run.

Speeding, 17th August

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 17:45:24 +0100
53.764772 -2.203134

The speed limit on this stretch of road is 30mph, however due to this part of road (westbound) just leaving the national speed limit people drive on this road at 40-50mph. This is dangerous to children, animals and people getting in and out their cars who street park. I would love to see either a speed camera, or one of the signs that tell people how they're going or at least more 30 signs before someone gets hurt.

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 12:44:16 +0100
53.767469 -2.193672

A repair was done here a few years ago, when a large hole opened up in the road surface to a void below. This repair is no collapsing into the same void and is evident as a large depression in the road surface. It will most likely collapse again in the not too distant future.
