Electronic sign across all lanes M5 southbound, 15th January

Mon, 15 Jan 2024 20:13:35 +0000
52.403296 -2.044273

There were 2x electronic displays on M5 southbound (about a mile before junction 4) that have displayed "national speed limit applies" signs across all lanes in 50mph roadworks zone around 1.30pm on 14/1/24. This was misleading and I have increased my speed briefly to 60mph before realising that this must be a mistake, however there was a yellow speed camera soon after the display sign, therefore I would not be surprised if I was caught speeding. In addition to this the electronic sign had a red cross in the hard shoulder lane, despite the physical road signs advised to use hard shoulder. Unfortunately, I do not not have dashcam footage of this, but there was a Traffic Officer car (with registration KO21 ?VT) leaving at junction 4 that might have recorded this. I'm reporting this because I think it would be unfair to prosecute those that have increased their speed past 50mph.

Parking on yellow line blocking access, 22nd June

Thu, 22 Jun 2023 09:06:58 +0100
52.415784 -2.056999

Every day at school run times, cars are parking on the single yellow line which blocks mine and my neighbours visibility to leave our properties on to the busy Bromsgrove Road on a stretch that has already seen several serious accidents in the last twelve months. They also park right across our access, as in the photograph, and I need to leave for work within this window.

Dangerous parking, 3rd March

Fri, 03 Mar 2023 00:13:03 +0000
52.4024 -2.050291

Good evening, In recent weeks, some occupants of Day House Bank have been parking their vehicles outside there property, on the highway. This is a road, not a drive, there is no path, and it is a narrow road. The issue is Day House Bank is a hill, has a blind spot brow, and when the vehicles are parked on this narrow hill, the traffic coming down the hill, cannot see these parked vehicles, until the very last second, and with their 30mph speed, and momentum of going downhill, struggle to stop, and are forced into the path of the on coming traffic. On 02/03/23, I had a very near head on collision with a white transit van, who was coming down the hill, as I was going up. The driver didn't see the parked vehicles until the last minute, and had to swerve into my path. I had to slam my brakes on and do an emergency stop. I'm quite sure there has been many more near misses. There should be double yellow lines on both sides of the road. Kind regards and many thanks Mrs Amanda Westwick

Inconsiderate parking, 5th October

Wed, 05 Oct 2022 10:00:46 +0100
52.415797 -2.056999

The residents on the east side of Bromsgrove Road between the school and Methodist church are being endangered by inconsiderate parking. Daily at school drop-off and pick-up times there are multiple cars parked on the single yellow lines making access to and from driveways difficult and reducing visibility, including to pedestrians walking across my driveway as I get home from work. There is a large panel van that regularly parks between the end of the yellow line and the start of the zig zags for the school. It is part on the pavement which means only single file when walking to and from school with a disabled child and it also blocks visibility up the hill. Given the serious accident at the weekend, it is obvious that the 30 speed limit in the village is not enforced but we all have to pull out in to the road before we can see traffic coming down the hill. It does not belong to a resident on the East side of Bromsgrove Road so they are choosing not to impact their own family's safety. With the temporary closure of the Swallow's Nest car park, where many parents park for the school, the situation is only going to get worse as the mornings and evenings get darker. Please can we see a regular presence of a traffic enforcement officer to ensure the children's safety.
