The Streetlamps at the junction of New Road, Hessay and the A59 are not working. The westernmost does not illuminate at all, the eastern one will periodically illuminate for a short while but is too dim to be of use. I am referring to the 2 tall lights situated within the traffic islands on the A59

Several deep potholes upto 20 inches wide, 2nd February
There are quite a few large potholes along this stretch of the A59 that have been unattended for months, but one in particular on the East-bound (to York) carriageway caused excessive swerving of traffic today and must be causing damage to those not seeing it in time. This is about 300 yards east of the Hessay Industrial Estate turning, so probably takes a lot of heavy vehicles, and this whole stretch of a mile should be surveyed and repaired ASAP. Thank you.

Dumped mattress on grass verge., 19th October
Large mattress or part of divan bed dumped on north side of A59, approx 100 yards from the bus shelter. It has been there for at least 2 months. Find the bus shelter opposite Hessay lane end (New Road) and you will see it. Can`t include photograph as it would involve stopping a car on a busy route.

Overgrown grass verge., 12th June
The exit from New Road onto the A59 is very overgrown on the verge, making it impossible to see oncoming traffic from the Harrogate direction when trying to exit. Cars and lorries are coming down here at some speed and this is the worst I have seen in over 20 years - it`s usually been cut before it gets this high. You have to pull out into the traffic coming from York before you can see the other way.

Litter bin overflowing, 11th December
The litter bin has been full for several weeks and is now overflowing - please could the refuse collectors be asked to check regularly whether it needs emptying?

Litter bin overflowing, 13th September
The litter bin by the Jubilee Tree has not been emptied since the changeover to wheelie bins (several months ago). It is now overflowing with dog waste. If the household waste collectors are no longer required to empty it then some other arrangement needs to be made.
The same situation exists at the Lane End - the litter bin by the crossroads has not been emptied either.

Road surface needs attention, 13th September
Holes in the road were marked up for fixing several months ago, yet they do not seem to be included in the forthcoming roadworks on Church Lane. As far as I am aware Red House Lane is still 'publicly maintained' from it's junction with Church Lane until well past Cock Hill Farm. This section has not received any attention, apart from 'marking up' for years.

Serious trip hazard, 30th June
A tree root has distorted the pavement to such an extent that it is causing a serious trip hazard. The ridge is raised around 2 inches above the surrounding tarmac. This was reported to the NYCC's Highways Dept. several months ago and nothing has been done. The village will be full of visitors on sunday for Open Gardens and i'm worried that someone will fall.
