Up Holland is a village that is famous for its friendly locals and traditional shops and pubs. It is one of the oldest villages in the Wigan area and is home to historical buildings such as Up Holland Windmill, which dates back to the 16th century, and St. James' Church, a Grade-II listed building which is over 200 years old.

Croston is a small village located in the middle of the district. It features a variety of shops and other amenities, including a small library, a post office, and a village hall. It is known for its annual summer festival which is held in June, as well as its proximity to the Leeds and Liverpool canal.

Appley Bridge is a small village on the outskirts of Wigan and features a variety of amenities such as a post office, a doctor's surgery and a village hall, as well as a number of shops, cafes and restaurants. It's also home to several grade-II listed buildings and monuments, including the Teal Bridge, the Knowsley Bridge and the St. Catherine's Church.

Parbold is a village with a population of over 2,400 people. It features a variety of independent shops and is known for its picturesque scenery and easy access to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. It is also home to the annual Parbold Football Festival which is held annually in August.

Mawdesley is a small village near the Leeds and Liverpool canal and is home to several grade-II listed buildings, such as Brown Edge Hall and the Cowmire Hall. It is also home to St. John the Evangelist Church, the only grade-I listed building in the WN6 postcode district. The village is well known for its annual village fair which is held every July, as well as the Mawdesley Sprinter, a popular 10k road race which is held annually in October.
