The castle was administered by the de Clare family in the 12th and 13th centuries, then became part of King Edward I's estate in 1290. It is now a grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Recently, the castle was featured in the Netflix film The King.

Additionally, TN7 is home to many popular attractions such as Tonbridge Swimming Pool, Tonbridge Old Fire Station and Rusheng Park, a large green space located in the centre of Tonbridge town. The area has easy access to the M25 motorway, as well as the towns of Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells, as well as other major road and rail links, and three local train stations in Tonbridge, Hildenborough and Leigh.
