The area is also home to various nature reserves, including Woodford Nature Reserve and a number of sites of special scientific interest.

The area is a popular tourist destination, and has a thriving cultural scene. It hosts various festivals throughout the year, such as the Poynton Festival and the Macclesfield Canal Festival. It also has a range of local businesses, such as shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs.

The area is also home to some of the best independent schools in the region, such as Hazel Grove High School and Poynton Music School. In addition, Stockport's main hospital is located in the district, providing medical services to the local community.
