Speed limit needs to be reduced along the A1000 outside Sherrardswood school, 28th March
Exiting the A1 and travelling down the A1000 past the entrance to the school cars are travelling too fast to allow cars to exit the school safely. If you travel past at the end of a school it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. There is a bus stop on the opposite carriageway but how are people expected to be able to cross 4 lanes of traffic? We have had a lane taken away on the way into town to make a safe cycle lane that I have never seen used, the money would have been better spent looking after the safety of pupils and families that attend Sherrardswood school.

Dangerous 70mph dual carriageway school road, 17th March
This road is extremely dangerous being a 70mph dual carriageway directly adjacent to the Sherrardswood School Drive. This should be a 30 or 40mph road not 70mph. School children and teachers are unable to cross safely to get to school. There should be a crossing so children and teachers can walk to school as currently they can only get here by car safely. Pedestrians do still cross it despite the danger and with the school doubling in size in the last 5 years there is an increased risk of a fatality on the road. Last year a 12 year old girl was was near-fatally injured after trying to cross the road on foot. Sixth form drivers exiting the blind school junction are also at risk of collision here. Pedestrians walking on the footpath on the other side of the road are at risk of being hit by cars coming off the road at speed especially around the bend. This road is an anomaly that needs to be addressed asap.

Hertford Road A1000 outside Sherrardswood School is dangerous and needs to be slowed, 17th March
- Road is dangerous, it’s derestricted so vehicles can legally travel up to 70mph past the school entrance. - turning off or onto this road from the school entrance is extremely hazardous as the view is restricted. Oncoming cars often appear out of nowhere due to their high speeds. - To utilise the bus stops you need to cross this dangerous road. - speed needs to be limited to 30mph and engineering measures put in place to facilitate this (new speed signs/painted road markings/countdown markers/rumble strips/part time flashing lights etc)

Not enough signage for 20mph zone, 17th March
Station Road from junction of Hertford Rd to Harmer Green is a 20mph zone. The signs are minute. Easily missed from Hertford Rd junction. The photographs represent the area of houses and cars in the village we need a big sign, Sid’s or speed camera. Drivers rat running exceed 30 mph. Putting all pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers in danger. Cars speeding up Station Rd from Hertford Rd are ignoring drivers exiting there drives. Cars speeding from the Harmer Green junction under the bridge meet a blind bend from the pub, they do not slow here and there have been multiple near misses. We have had 2 crashes in the last year. Again due to speeding. We have lots of elderly residents and families with young children. Station Rd speeding traffic includes vans and lorries, this is a lethal mix for our neighbours. We need bigger signage, Sids or speed camera. And speed cameras around the village.
