Button broken on crossing., 21st December
The pedestrian crossing lights keep going to red, despite nobody pressing the button. I’m not sure if somebody has wedged the button in, or whether there is another explanation. Every thirty seconds or so, the lights change to red, holding up the traffic for nothing. It’s the set of lights going from Harpenden towards St Albans.

Contractors cars wrecking the grass verges, 7th October
There was once a lovely house here, and now developers have put 3 executive dolls houses in its place. Worse still, there has been approx 10-12 cars and vans parked on the GRASS VERGE, and this is being damaged. The white hoardings also look a mess and like a 2nd world war bomb site. The vehicles also look unsightly and should be clamped. Since when has it been legal to park on a grass verge ? Harpenden is being systematically dumbed down brick by brick, make no mistake about it. Have some respect, Eric Morecombe once lived around here.

Deep pothole outside Simmons on Station Road, 3rd October
This is getting really deep now, Probably 4 inches. This is a busy road with 2 way traffic. Difficult to avoid By swerving and definitely a serious risk to both wheel and tyre.

White vans and builders vehicles, 26th August
This just makes the area unsightly, and there is almost never a time when there is not a skip 'on the go' or some other form of demolition or construction/building work. It is very tiresome and never ending, and makes the area Un-Posh.
It was once a pleasure to see a tall pin striped stock-broker with bowler hat and briefcase in hand (and a pink paper) doing a silly walk down the road to catch a train. If you have any sense of humour, you will know what this means.
P.s. is this the 2mm social distancing or the full 2 metres ? (I'm sure you will work this one out if you have seen a certain comedy series).

Dead tree opposite our shed at No 1 Pipers Farm Cottages Pipers Lane, 13th August
Several years ago a large tree fell onto our shed involving a partial new slate roof. Am anxious this doesn't occur again as I am recently widowed and do not want to deal with an unnecessary and avoidable problem. Thank you. Mrs Mo Gedye.

Damaged Fairmead Avenue street nameplate, 3rd August
The Fairmead Avenue street name plate is damaged. It has been hit/driven into ( by car parking on pavement?) and the wooden back plate is rotting. The plate is partially obscured by overhanging hedge foliage and this applies to the adjacent Highfield Avenue street sign, bith of which are difficult to see by passing motorists on this confusing dual street name road.
