Entire roundabout surface breaking up with cracks joining up and forming tramlines, 3rd April

Wed, 03 Apr 2024 19:32:55 +0100
53.409761 -1.362103

Can someone please fix the surface of this roundabout before someone gets killed!! I've been trying to get this issue resolved for several years while the surface deteriorates further. (just look at street view and scroll back through the years). In a car the road is bumpy, its no exaggeration that for anyone one two wheels this is a death trap. The cracks are now joining up to create tramlines! and they only ever have one outcome. Currently I have to stand on the pedals with knees bent and mouth closed so I don't bite through my tongue again. The last time I reported this the highways inspector was scheduled to investigate situation, I can only imagine he called in sick that day. The adjacent Bawtry road has recently been fully resurfaced (on one side at least) however this shocking roundabout has been left. It has to be pointed out that this is a very busy and dangerous roundabout, especially when turning right from Brinsworth in rush hour traffic, its just not possible to look down to negotiate the damage, look behind for the car I've just swerved in front of and look ahead for traffic pulling out in front, I've had two near misses just this week, sadly there is no alternative route I can take to avoid this area. I'm not looking forward to getting around in a wheelchair and my family don't want me being dead. I've had very good results getting damaged roads repaired using fix my street sadly this one issue is getting no ware.

Hazardous parking, 31st March

Sun, 31 Mar 2024 08:35:15 +0100
53.426826 -1.35952

On Foundry place, cars avoid parking on the new double yellow lines, by parking on the white Keep Clear markings. This is more hazardous than if than if they parked on the double yellows, because they will double park and will block/restrict car park exits.

Parking on Keep Clear markings, 25th March

Mon, 25 Mar 2024 22:14:18 +0000
53.42678 -1.359243

A few cars routinely parks on Keep Clear markings outside block of flats - presumably avoiding the double yellow lines due to risk of a parking ticket. However this creates a visibility issue for vehicles exiting the flats car park. I'm reporting this as I was nearly hit by a car exiting the car park today, as I was driving out of Foundry place - I believe the parked car blocked the driver's view. Could you consider replacing the white Keep Clear markings with double yellow lines, so these persistent inconsiderate parkers can be fined?

Lorries being loaded on bridge street, 20th March

Wed, 20 Mar 2024 15:07:24 +0000
53.432549 -1.360239

The company on George street "we buy any car" is letting car transporters load on Bridge street 3 or 4 times a week. They are parked on double yellow lines and blocking the pavement because they cant be bothered to reverse onto George street as they are supposed to. On Saturday 16th I was verbally abused for asking a driver to move his transporter which was blocking my driveway. The football fans were shouting and it caused a lot of distress to my wife and grand children. This is the second time i have reported this danger and i feel like i need to take matters into my own hands. Can someone contact me please and STOP this company riding rough shod over local people.

No action just empty promises by the council, 18th February

Sun, 18 Feb 2024 22:26:25 +0000
53.434841 -1.366514

Road’s absolutely filthy and people are leaving all the bins out. Reported so many times the council sent letter out but no one’s taking action. It’s understandable on bin days hit keeping your bins on the road out all the time is a health hazard attracting rats on the street, allowing kids to kick them down causing waste on the road. The winds we have had the bins have end up falling on middle of the road. What’s going to happen next it’s going to damage peoples cars and cause fights with neighbours. The parking is awful some neighbours are now parking different places on the road and cramming one side of the road to prevent damage to their cars and it’s causing distress as a result. Please can you resolve this issue

The way all your roadwork are covering the street are causing issue for residents to come on to James street and Walter street. You made it one way for such a long way that when residents come in and out it’s causing problems of two cars getting out. The traffic light system is not working. This road work has been going on for over 2 weeks now and causing high distress. It’s only time when someone will have an accident due to these road cones and everything placed.

Council says there’s no potholes, 18th February

Sun, 18 Feb 2024 22:11:38 +0000
53.434195 -1.368048

I have reported several times and you guys say there was no pot hole despite my car and other vehicle tyres and alloys are getting damaged. I have now taken photos. If they were minor bumps I won’t report them but they big holes. I have reported it several times. We need to start billing the council for all damages as clearly they are not bothered but when we bill and take you to court I’m sure you will be. Please fix the issue we all pay council tax and the council has a duty of care to repair. Things they keep neglecting our street I think I shall be writing to the Rotherham mp next it’s becoming beyond a joke. Kindly please just do your job rather than lying in reports now I’ve sent you photos.

Rubbish Everywhere, 18th February

Sun, 18 Feb 2024 17:13:24 +0000
53.433336 -1.367713

Yikes what an awful stretch of road New Wortley Road is between the Garden Street roundabout and College Road junction. Particularly the area adj 25 Walter Street, however the entire road in general is strewn with rubbish. The last tree on the left hand side heading into town must surely be struggling to survive it has so much detritus around its base. This is the main thoroughfare into Rotherham for visitors coming from the North. I wonder what they must think of the place when they see this? Its not a good advertisement for the town at all. Be under no illusion, this isn't litter. Its local people using the area to dispose of household rubbish. Its time these folks were tackled about it and fined or better still made to clear it up and then fined.
