Overgrown hedging at the bottom of St Catherines Way, 19th April

Fri, 19 Apr 2024 18:53:02 +0100
50.851547 -1.15951

I am concerned about the overgrown hedging outside the house at the junction between St Catherines Way and Cams Hill. I am not sure that the house is occupied, so it might be difficult to deal with this. But the hedging is now so overgrown that the corner has become a blind spot. It is a hazard for cars, cyclists and pedestrians. Drivers have to slow down almost to a halt to enable them to drive around the corner slowly. But not everyone does, and I am concerned that there will be an accident some time soon, when another driver, cyclist or pedestrian coming towards takes the corner quickly without realising how blind it is. Is there any way of getting the hedging severely cut back?

The "welcome to Portchester" road sign which was on the East side of Hill Rd where it crosses the M27, (as shown in the phot of the one on the west side of Hill Rd) has been hit by a vehicle and demolished leaving a large hole in the pavement. The sign is no longer there. The vehicle was a Ford from the fact it left a nameplate at the scene.

Poor state of pavement along Portchester Road, 7th April

Sun, 07 Apr 2024 15:51:06 +0100
50.848728 -1.142206

Poor state of pavement along Portchester Road The poor state of the pavements from Downend Road to the Cornaway Roundabout, especially on our side of the road (i.e. the even house numbers). I have been contacted by a resident who, with his wife, often walks from their house on Portchester Road to the BP Garage/MS Shop and beyond, and often lose our footing on the damaged and uneven surface. We also often see elderly people in disabled vehicles struggling to navigate the uneven surface.

Decaying tree is an eyesore - Cornaway Roundabout / BP Garage, 7th April

Sun, 07 Apr 2024 08:38:02 +0100
50.848332 -1.138505

I have for a while been watching an area opposite the BP/M&S service station be continually ignored by the landscaping teams. Originally I believe there may have been a small tree/shrub here but it was vandalised and then debris from falling branches added etc and nobody cleared it up. The grass cutting teams just cut around it and presumably don’t pass the information upwards, ……. and it goes on and on, total eyesore.

50.850705 -1.178121

The yellow markings for this box junction are so worn they are not visible. People are forever stopping in the hatched area blocking traffic flow round the roundabout. All the markings on this roundabout need repainting but this is the worst.
