Potholes on either side of island and missing reflective bollard, 5th February

Mon, 05 Feb 2024 18:10:57 +0000
55.862438 -4.585964

Either side of the island as you enter and exit the village has unavoidable potholes that have worsened with the bad weather and are becoming a risk of a puncture. They have been here for a few months now. There is also the issue of the reflective bollards. They were repaired a couple weeks ago and now the reflective sign as you leave the village is lying on the verge further down the road. Surely there is a better solution for this as it is an ongoing issue for them to be knocked off. It is a safety issue when driving in the dark.

The traffic calming central island leaving Bridge if Weir heading for Kilmacolm is lying flat on ground with retaining bolts visible and has clearly been wrenched out of position, dark unlit piece of road and extremely dangerous as central reservation not now visible in dark especially, needs properly fixed rather than just propped up which presumably is what happened last time it was reporter and ‘fixed’

Sheep on the road, 5th July

Mon, 05 Jul 2021 23:18:22 +0100
55.852679 -4.626937

Every evening I come past this stretch of road there are frequently loose sheep grazing in the verge and sometimes walking on the road. This has been a constant occurrence from Spring through Summer every year. There have been loose sheep every evening this week. I don't know who the farmer is but I would start with Mr Baxter at Gibblaston farm nearby.

Parking on a blind corner, 18th September

Fri, 18 Sep 2020 08:47:03 +0100
55.858297 -4.587647

There is a blind corner as marked coming out of Bridge of Weir. There are houses on the one side of the road and fields on the other. It is becoming increasingly dangerous to get round this corner safely. Residents of the houses who clearly have no common sense are parking their cars on the roadside which forces traffic towards Quarrier's into the middle of the road going around a blind corner. I have also had a few scares coming the other way when suddenly confronted by a car in the middle of the road. The hedges are also very overgrown (I appreciate this may be seasonal) reducing any hope of scanning the road ahead for the tops of ongoing cars. I feel that this area should be double yellow lines and the farmer should be encouraged to keep the hedges shorter/trimmed more regularly if at all possible, appreciating this may be best done at certain times of year.

Blind corner made worse by overgrown hedges, 18th September

Fri, 18 Sep 2020 08:42:16 +0100
55.860188 -4.601509

I have to turn right to get into Quarrier's Village when travelling along Torr Road form Bridge of Weir. The turn is at Torr Hall. It is pretty much a blind right turn. This is made much worse by very overgrown hedges on the left side of the road. These need a marked reduction in height if possible. I don't think there is a sign coming in the other direction warning of traffic in the middle of the road either. It is a 60mph road and it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident here.

Temporary repairs to potholes, 9th September

Wed, 09 Sep 2020 16:27:53 +0100
55.878739 -4.59833

Recently, potholes in my area (Quarriers Village, Inverclyde) have been repaired by a machine operated by one person. The machine looks very expensive and sophisticated. However, the finished repair is barely smoother than the original road damage and the process leaves a large quantity of loose stones that are picked up by other vehicles and can cause paint and windscreen damage. Please tell me that this is a temporary process in lieu of a proper patch repair.
