Missing cycle post, 31st March
A yellow post that starts the cycle path upto rake lane roundabout was knocked over many months ago and has never been replaced. This is going to cause an accident with cars or cycles hitting the now almost invisible rubber ducks that seperate the cycle path from road.
Can this be replaced along with the yellow post near the BP petrol station which has also been hit and lost its yellow jacket.

School car park dangers, 18th March
The poorly designed car park at Coquet Park First School and traffic management flow is a danger to young children’s safety and health.
Some of the issues:
There are no pathways to access the school from the car park and families have to walk amongst the vehicles.
There is no crossing near the school gates, only down at Waves, which is too far from the school.
The one way system funnels all vehicles (and therefore exhaust/tyre emissions) right up to and past the school gates, closer than is necessary given the huge area available for vehicles on the council’s site.
This system also acts as a bottleneck for vehicles arriving and departing during busy times.
Later arrivals find it difficult to access the car park with children and parents crossing in multiple places; and vice versa - families find it difficult to cross when later arrivals are in a rush.
The paths, car park entry / exit and service road at the back of Waves leisure centre could be far more efficiently designed as a way to avoid these pressures and improve overall safety.

Lack of a regular sweeping beat, 28th February
The 2 sets of steps at each end of Crescent Vale leading up to Marden Rd are desperately needing swept also the surrounding gulleys, kerbsides and around the trees let alone the accumulated litter in and around Jesmond Terrace, Crescent Vale and The Crescent. I pass this spot regularly and it seems no council eyes pass this area.

Missing cycle path signs, 28th February
Drivers are not giving way here to vulnerable road & path users.
This is despite the new Highway Code Rule H3 meaning cyclists and pedestrians have right of way. (“You should not cut across cyclists going ahead when turning into or out of a junction or changing direction or lane, just as you would not turn across the path of another motor vehicle. This applies whether cyclists are using a cycle lane, a cycle track, or riding ahead on the road and you should give way to them.”)
The street infrastructure clearly needs modernising but in the short term replacing the cycle path signs might help.
Google StreetView shows there used to be cycle path signs clearly displayed in both directions on entry and exit side but these are no longer there.
