Shuddering Caused by Buses on Level Crossing, 16th February

Sat, 16 Feb 2019 09:57:49 +0000
51.455055 -0.09965

Outside St. Paulís Church on Herne Hill is a level crossing, and when buses and HGV bump over the level crossing it causes the surrounding homes to violently shudder, rattling objects, making noise that breaks tedidence sleep and causes mental stress. The building also phidically move / shudder which will cause structural damage. The shuddering has been noticible since 2011, but itís intensity has dramatically increased in recently years, and more recently (2019) it is causes local residends extra stress as it is beginning to cause structural damage, cracking walls and causing pipes to rattle and wake families in the night and early in the morning. Late at night and early mornjng are worst as the roads are clear and buses and HGV break the local 20mph speed limit, bumping over the level crossing, that acts like a ramp for a 13 tonne vehicle. To fix this, speed cameras need to be installed right next to the level crossing. AND/OR The level crossing needs to be completely flattened and the zebra lines repainted. This would still be safe for school children as a Lollypop man works the crossing morning and afternoon in the week in school yerm time. Please fix this so local residence can sleep and not stress about structural damage to property. Many thanks : )

Very dangerous for cyclists, 14th February

Thu, 14 Feb 2019 17:35:53 +0000
51.454709 -0.100009

The road surface immediately around the outside of a drain cover about 10 metres south of the pedestrian crossing for Herne Hill School, has now completely collapsed. This leaves a very deep hole along the road side of the cover (possibly a metre deep I donít know). The hole is currently about 8 to 12 centimetres wide so would always cause a cyclist to be dismounted. As this is a downhill section on a busy road the effect could easily be fatal.

This has been going on for months - rubbish is either fliptipped or overfills these bins on the corner of Brixton Road and Wynne Road, which then gets spread all around the surrounding area and is attracting rats. They need more bins here or for street cleaners to tackle any flytipping.
