Thu, 14 Feb 2019 15:24:39 +0000

The entrance to Cathedral Street is incredibly dangerous due to the increasing potholes which span most of the width of the road. Given the number of cyclists (this is part of a National Cycle Route) using the road, this needs urgent repair.

Between tables and bikes, little room left on wide footway, 13th February

Wed, 13 Feb 2019 13:46:31 +0000
51.531065 -0.080134

When café tables and chairs are out on the eastern footway of Hoxton Street opposite its junction with Crondall Street, there is little space left for walking between them and parked bicycles. The problem is that the three "nappy pin"-style parking stands are installed in such a way as to encourage people to park their bikes perpendicular to the kerb, which greatly reduces the walking space available. These stands, installed around 2003, are in any case of a type which is not recommended by cycling organisations and would not be used these days by the borough. This is chiefly because they do not provide sufficient support. It is common to see a bicycle that has fallen over when locked to this type of stand. The nappy-pin stands should be replaced with standard issue Sheffield-type stands installed parallel to the kerb (450mm in from the kerb) at suitable intervals in a serial layout. This would then allow plenty of walking space between parked bicycles and the café's tables. If this suggestion is agreed, I would be happy to meet the council's surveyor on site to advise on how best to lay out the new stands. I can offer the benefit of years of experience in installation of cycle parking.

Tue, 12 Feb 2019 16:16:46 +0000
51.513443 -0.071666

On the west side of St Mark Street near the junction with Alie Street on lamp column S1009 there is an advance warning sign referring to a closure of St Mark Street for four weeks in August 2015, over four years ago. It would be good if this sign could be removed in order to reduce visual clutter.

Lack of parking enforcement on Union Walk and Waterson Street, 12th February

Tue, 12 Feb 2019 16:04:24 +0000
51.528927 -0.077347

The "no waiting at any time" restrictions on Waterson Street and Union Walk are being ignored by many motor vehicle owners, and there seems to be no effective deterrence by way of enforcement. Also, worse, some vehicle owners are partially blocking the footway of Waterson Street with their vehicles.

London Cycle Network sign pointing the wrong way, 12th February

Tue, 12 Feb 2019 14:36:05 +0000
51.522078 -0.075577

On the south-west corner of Wheler Street and Quaker Street there is a London Cycle Network sign to "Hackney" pointing in entirely the wrong direction. The sign is currently facing south towards Commercial Street rather than north up Wheler Street, which would be the correct direction. Going back in time with Google Streetview, I see that the sign was last captured facing the correct way in July 2014. If someone could point it back the right way and do the nuts up good and tight that would be much appreciated.

Persistent household rubbish dumping atracting rats, 12th February

Tue, 12 Feb 2019 09:22:28 +0000
51.528425 -0.118002

The dumping at lamposts and trees days before collection is attracting rodents in various spots at Acton Street (but slso surrounding area). The council and landlords should find a solution to that. Part of the problem appears to be the false belief that rubbish can still be put out daily (past way) and is colkected daily and possibly lack of internal or external disposal sites. The steet looks filthy on most days of the week with rubbish piling up as early as one day after collection including nappies and other waste.
