Pothole on road/cycleway problem, 22nd April

Mon, 22 Apr 2024 13:54:07 +0100
53.45865 -0.356862

I was driving on the A46 just beyond the level crossing at Holton Le Moor, this is a 50mph zone which is the speed I was travelling when I hit a pothole in the road. As the road is in shade from tree cover it makes it very difficult to spot until you are almost over it.

A46 South of the hope tavern adjacent to both lay-bys, 21st April

Sun, 21 Apr 2024 16:35:45 +0100
53.458316 -0.356922

There is a large (over 2 feet wide and several inches deep) pothole causing damage to vehicles on the southbound carriageway adjacent to the lay-by south of the Holton le Moor railway crossing. Cars have to go wide or into the lay-by to avoid it. There is a second large (similar size) pothole on the northbound carriageway adjacent to the northbound lay-by which cars are having to go wide of to avoid. As these lay-bys are close together, there is a higher risk of collision as cars on both sides are having to go wide to avoid the large potholes. This is an A road with a 50mph speed limit.

Pothole on road/cycleway problem, 17th April

Wed, 17 Apr 2024 15:27:38 +0100
53.45835 -0.356922

Driving towards Market Rasen at 12.40 and hit a substantial pothole. Immediately the car tyre warning light came on. Pulled off onto Moor Road & inspected the front passenger tyre which was completely flat. A split / tear could be seen on the side wall the tyre. Fortunately had run flat tyres so could get home. Before, I stopped at the incident point & took some pictures. Would estimate pothole was around 100-150mm depth, 400mm wide & 1m long. Position was right on the driving line so avoiding is near impossible.

Dangerous pothole apx 50-100mm deep in tyre line, 13th April

Sat, 13 Apr 2024 12:59:47 +0100
53.457344 -0.357116

Driving along the A46 Holton road from the railway crossing towards market rasen this morning at 9.30am I hit a very large pothole which has bent the rim of my front near side alloy wheel. The pothole is in the shade of the trees so difficult to see and when driving and have vehicles in front and behind, unable to avoid. It wasn’t safe to stop so I pulled over at the lay-by at usselby to check my tyre and noticed it had bent my alloy wheel. Approximate location given, will stop on way home tomorrow if not fixed to take photo and note exact location using what three words if safe to do so. Urgent repair required.

On A46 approximately 0.2 mile to Market Rasen side of Holton le Moor railway crossing., 11th April

Thu, 11 Apr 2024 20:25:58 +0100
53.458564 -0.356886

Pothole at the side of the road maybe 12” out from the verge and in line for any cyclist, motor cyclist or car near side wheels. Due to following traffic, I have not been able to stop and inspect it but would estimate it to be 12” in diameter and, given the impact each of the three times I have hit it, would guess it to be at least 40mm deep. Given its position, it is difficult to see, especially on a wet road, and is certainly capable of causing damage to any vehicle and injury to any cyclist or motorcyclist unfortunate enough to hit it.

Pothole on road/cycleway problem, 10th April

Wed, 10 Apr 2024 11:49:02 +0100
53.458367 -0.356909

Travelling towards market rasen. As I came over the level crossing and carried on I heard a low bang on the front of the car. I then had to stop the vehicle. The car had hit the pothole which had caused a puncture to the front left tyre and wheel. The pothole is not at the side of the road but directly in the middle left so you can’t see the pothole at dusk. This is also a dangerous location as cars would have to swerve to avoid it and they would be on the opposite side of the road .The pothole is a large indentation in the road measuring 4-5 inches deep and at least a tyres width

Driven over this on Friday 5th April and it has completely ruined my car. There is no avoiding this due to oncoming traffic. It’s disappointing to see that it has been reported so many times yet it is still there. This pot hole has caused my passenger side wheel to complete crack and destroy the front wheel as well as the back passenger side wheel too. Reported to the Lincolnshire police too.
