The A77 and M77 roads connect Prestwick to Ayr, Glasgow, and the rest of Scotland, while the West Coast main line from Glasgow to Edinburgh passes through the town.

The local area includes a range of leisure activities, such as sandy beaches, golf courses, and a wave-pool, as well as historical attractions, such as Culzean Castle and Country Park, and the nearby Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. There are also excellent walking and cycling routes in the area, as well as a variety of local pubs, restaurants, and cafes.
