Located around 4 miles from the centre of Huddersfield, Kirkburton is known for its impressive churches, with St. Helen's being home to some of the finest modern stained-glass windows in the region. It is also home to the annual Kirkfeast Festival, a traditional summer fair that takes place in the village square. Popular with locals, the festival offers music, funfair rides, and local food stalls.

Locals also have access to further education from the nearby Huddersfield University.
