Missing cover Location HP14 4AA, what3words //award.finely.shimmered, 21st April

This was first reported to the council on 17th April but has not been dealt with as at this morning 21st April. This is an emergency but the "emergency" number provided is a customer services number and was not answered this morning as customer services is closed at weekends! The missing cover will cause cycling fatalities as well as serious vehicle damage if the cover is not replaced immediately or a temporary cover provided and the location properly cordoned off to alerts and protect road users until the appropriate agency can replace the cover. Bucks Highways Team should act now please to prevent loss of life, serious injury or serious vehicular damage to road users of this very busy stretch of road during the week and at weekends.

Chinnor Road, Bledlow Ridge en route out of village towards Loxborough Hill, 19th April

Fri, 19 Apr 2024 16:28:00 +0100
51.663041 -0.835252

URGENT. A 40cm x 20cm metal cover is missing from an access hatch for waterworks, in the middle of the left hand half of the highway, ie severe hazard to traffic heading towards West Wycombe [or to anyone overtaking and coming in the opposite direction]. Any rider on 2 wheels will crash if they are unfortunate enough for a wheel to fall into the void. The road is unlit. This defect was reported by someone at 13h56 on Wednesday 17 April, ref: 5865453. The photos accompanying that report are self explanatory. The automated feedback explains that the remedial action will be the utility company’s responsibility. This is completely understood. What DEFIES COMMON SENSE is that in the meantime there is NO WARNING WHATSOEVER of the hole in the road [observed first hand on Friday afternoon 19 April]. This MUST BE THE URGENT RESPONSIBILITY OF BUCKS HIGHWAYS. I do not believe that any form of traffic cones or barrier has been placed to warn motorists, and which have now been “stolen”. NB The utility company might believe that it already fixed the problem, following a report to FixMyStreet on 13 March 2024, ref ref: 5706193. The cover was indeed replaced, but it subsequently failed and is once again completely missing.

The road surface of Church Ln from the school on to the bottom of the road is terrible, this is made up of gravel and stones and where large vehicles are using the road to turn, we are left with uneven road surface and potholes.

Cricket Club advertising signs, 12th April

Fri, 12 Apr 2024 15:13:26 +0100
51.669013 -0.842872

Around the cricket club and tennis club entrance/exit there are up to 4 signs placed on the council owned grass verge. This is a hazard for motorists especially motorcyclists as they are so close to the road. There has been a Facebook post about it on the Bledlow group where I can only assume no permission of any kind has been acquired from the council. Could you arrange for a letter to be sent to them after the sign has been removed telling them they need permission for signs of this nature unless it’s is on ground that is actually owned by them. Thank you.

Cycle path between Lee Rd and Shootacre, 10th April

Wed, 10 Apr 2024 18:40:02 +0100
51.690101 -0.832268

This new cycle path replaced a degraded footpath 2 or 3 years ago. In my opinion it was not a good job by the contractors. There are so many places where the weeds are growing through and pushing up the tarmac. I stumbled over one of these places of raised tarmac recently so it is not particularly safe either. The verges are encroaching by at lest a foot in many places. A nice wide cycle path is already being compromised. It needs clearing and sweeping. It doesn't seem to make sense spending a lot of money on a great asset which I used by so many people, only to let it defoliate so rapidly. I walked it a few days ago, there are a few areas where there is broken glass, not good for cyclists, pedestrians or dogs.

Directly outside Christmas Cottage nursery, 10th April

Wed, 10 Apr 2024 17:10:33 +0100
51.672364 -0.844911

These large potholes have caused extensive damage to my vehicle. As you can see they are deep , enough to hold rainwater in fact! 13cm at the deepest point, 3 potholes in one long line, approximately 2 meters in total. This has caused two broken coil springs in the car. I have had to have the work carried out and can supply proof of work.

Vehicles park all day outside Christmas Cottage Nursery which is next door (3a Haw Lane). This means that traffic crosses to the other side of the road in front of my house. This series of joined holes has degenerated very rapidly. There is a huge number of smaller pot holes all the way down Haw Lane.

A4010 Wycombe Road, on the left verge when heading toward Wycombe, half way between The Residence & dog walkers laybe, 8th April

Mon, 08 Apr 2024 15:11:24 +0100
51.672113 -0.817998

Unmarked & unprotected opening to underground chamber, believe to belong to BT [ie Openreach]. Half of the manhole is missing. The vertical drop is at least 2 metres and therefore extremely dangerous to anyone venturing off the roadside paved path. The location is adjacent to an opening to a “track” into farmer field. There is no sign of the missing half of the manhole. There is no sign of a barricade or warning cone. Rather odd. Peering into the void, it’s possible to see 2 cut off telecoms cables below. But these may have been left like this months or years ago. I believe that the manhole missing half its cover, has occurred recently because otherwise I would have noticed it previously. Thank you
