Bibury is most famous for Arlington Row, a row of 18th-century cottages described as “the most beautiful village in England”.

GL7 consists of mainly rural areas, with the Cotswold Hills forming part of its landscape. The area also has some of the most scenic cycle routes in England, such as the Cotswold Way and the Gloucester to Castle Combe route. The region is also host to some unique wildlife; there are colonies of the rare glow-worm found in the hedgerows and disused railway embankments.

The area is known for its numerous festivals; the Bibury Trout Farm festival, the Cirencester Music Festival and the Lazy Days Music Festival are all popular events that take place in GL7. The area's sport is well represented too, with Cirencester Town and Gloucester City Football Clubs both competing in the Southern League. The Gloucester Rugby Club is also based in the district.

There are a number of schools in the area, including Stroud High School, Cirencester Kingshill School and Sir William Romney's School. GL7 is serviced by both Lechlade and Kemble railway stations and Cirencester bus station. Cirencester is the centre of the postcode; it is a market town and administrative centre of the district, boasting a large selection of pubs, shops and restaurants.
