Road camber and wash from traffic causing damage to cob wall, 15th April
I live at 57 High street Halberton. This is a 1920 bungalow below the level of the road. The boundary is a cob wall which has been repaired and rendered over the years. My concern is the camber of the road is such that the wash from traffic when it is raining means the wall is constantly being put at risk and made very wet by the wash from the road. If the wall collapsed it would have serious consequences for traffic and us as the drop down to our house is approximately a further 5 feet below road level and would mean serious disruption to road users as probably it would have to be closed or mad single file. I note all along the rest of the road gulleys have been installed /constructed to divert rainwater into the drains. This is absent outside our property. I have concern that the wall is already sturated with recent rain as water is leaking into a shed below the wall. I would like this to be looked at please, prevention is much better than cure, and although we have house insurance I feel insurers would take the line that the council might be responsible should the wall collapse
