EH17 is a post code district located to the south east of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is based on the town of Loanhead, lying approximately 8 miles south of the centre of the city. It is part of the Edinburgh city council area and is home to the villages of Gilmerton and Bilston and the civil parish of Melville.

The area is in the Midlothian Council region, which is known for its picturesque countryside landscape and local attractions such as Rosslyn Chapel, Dalkeith Country Park and the National Mining Museum Scotland. It is also home to a selection of golf courses including The Loanhead Golf Club and The Glen Golf Club.

EH17 benefits from excellent transport links to the rest of Scotland with regular bus services to Edinburgh and surrounding areas. In addition, the postcode also has links to the A720 city by-pass which connects Edinburgh to the M8 motorway, allowing locals easy access to the rest of the country.

In terms of education, Loanhead Primary School, Loanhead Nursery and Loanhead Dementia Day Care Centre are just some of the schools located in EH17. The postcode also has some fantastic local amenities, such as supermarkets, restaurants, bars and banks. There are also a number of public parks, making outdoor activities such as walking and cycling an ideal way to spend some leisure time.
