CO13 is part of Essex County Council's jurisdiction and local services are provided by the Colchester unitary authority. The area falls within the Tendring North constituency in the House of Commons.

Due to its close proximity to the coast, residents can enjoy activities such as fishing, walking along the footpaths and strolling along the coastal paths. There is also a picturesque golf course located in the area, as well as a historic, Roman-era Colchester Castle.

CO13 is served by Clacton-on-Sea railway station, providing direct services to London Liverpool Street, Ipswich and Colchester. The district is also served by several bus services throughout the region. In addition, it is within easy reach of Stansted Airport, which provides international connections.

The area is well connected to neighbouring settlements, with good road access to nearby town centres and cities, and highly efficient public transport links. Schooling is provided by Isle of Frinton Primary Schools, Tendring Technology College, Oaks Park High School, Colchester Institute and University of Essex.
