7 years since drain last cleaned out by Highways, 24th January
It's now 7 years since Highways last cleaned out drainage along Macey Bank. Had to remove mud ourselves a few years ago for fear of flooding. Strange how Highways can turn up to do the odd token pothole after a couple of years but can't sort out drains when county is coping with winter flooding.

No salt heaps along entire Macey Bank road. School route., 13th January
For some reason no salt heaps were left along the entire Macey Bank road this winter. The bottom junction with Calthwaite road is particularly dangerous as rainwater accumulates here and turns to sheet ice. There is no salt heap to spread on the road. This is a school run route to Ivegill school and an access route to Southwaite services for locals. Highways neglecting to do their job again or was this road forgotten this year?

Enlarging pothole above collapsing drain, 5th December
Problem reported last month. Within a few days quickset was shoved in the hole as a quick fix. Original complaint warned that this problem would continue to occur unless underlying drain collapse resolved. A week after the "repair", the contents popped out and the hole will now continue to deteriorate.

Neglected pothole, 19th September
A large pothole has been on the Macey Bank side of Ivegill Crossroads all summer. Nobody bothered to fill it even when they resurfaced the main Hutton to Carlisle road, passing only feet from it. It will only get larger and worse once winter arrives.

Abandoned works, 15th June
A hole was dug beside the road to relieve flooding some months ago & has not been touched since. The barriers collapsed in windy weather a while ago & went onto highway along with some cones. Somebody must have moved them off road but the rest hasn't been touched. The keep left sign points up to the sky! These barriers etc are a hazard to vehicles when bad weather strikes. No idea if the hole is covered.
