CA17 is an area comprising of four post towns from the historical county of Westmorland in Cumbria, England - including Aspatria, Wigton, Ireby and Uldale. Its main town, Wigton, is known for its fine Georgian architecture, as well as its proximity to Sellafield, the UK's only nuclear waste storage and reprocessing facility.

The area is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the Derwent Rivers bordered by Lakeland Fells and Identhwaite Common, a nature conservation area to the west. Whilst much of CA17 is rural, the post towns of Aspatria and Wigton are populous and culturally active; Aspatria has a heritage centre, while Wigton hosts concerts and crafts festivals throughout the year.

From an economic standpoint, agriculture is the main industry of CA17. Livestock and dairy farming are the prevalent agricultural activities, while some crops such as wheat, potatoes and oats are grown on the farms. Additionally, CA17's vast supply of limestone has led to the setting up of some small-scale limestone quarries.

Tourism is a major contributor to the local economy. The historical market towns of CA17 draw visitors from across the world, while the scenic walks and views of the rolling hills also provide an attractive leisure activity. There are a number of charming inns and pubs, and popular bed and breakfast spots such as Agilberg Farmhouse.

Education is also an important presence in the area; Aspatria has a primary school, and Wigton has a secondary school, as well as being the base of the North West Ambulance Service. County hospitals such as West Cumberland Hospital and Silloth Hospital are also within easy reach.

CA17 is a rural area with easy access to both English cities and Scotland, nestled among the beauty of the Lake District and offering a vibrant cultural atmosphere for visitors and locals alike.
