Very noisy rocking cover, 28th March

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 16:15:28 +0000
51.451306 -2.625428

Incident 5453798 has been closed without comment. It is very noisy and right outside our house, on this busy road. Another rocking cover just south (also reported but closed without comment) I've had to reopen as a matter of urgency because it has progressed to becoming dangerous with the cover lifting into the air. I fear this cover will not be too far behind, as it seems to have the same underlying problem. You may as well do both when you close the lane to repair the other one.

Utility cover lifting up into the air, 28th March

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 16:07:03 +0000
51.450975 -2.625153

Earlier reference 5497914 (about a noisy rocking cover) was recently closed without the issue being fixed. It has got substantially worse over the last couple of weeks, and now the cover is jumping into the air when the 40mph traffic passes over it - looking positively dangerous to me as I fear the cover will not fall back square into the frame. Just to confirm, it is on the southbound lefthand lane, just north of Hinton Lane. The more central of the two at this location. A photo can be found with incident 5497914.

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 12:45:28 +0000
51.446976 -2.608853

There has been a new sign erected at the end of Hanover Rd showing directions to the SS Great Britain. The sign should be on the next road down (Gasferry Road). It is sending lots of cars and coaches down the wrong road, they then have to do a U turn to get back out in order to take the next correct turning to access the SS Great Britain. This is happening multiple times a day.

Active Badger sett that council contractors are removing vegetation from, 28th March

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 09:23:47 +0000
51.452103 -2.609993

Disturbing active badger setts is an offence under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, and there is currently an active sett underneath vegetation in the garden of Brandon house. Residents are concerned and the promise of the results of a ecological survey was not shared with residents as promised. NGO's are being liaised with, but residents would like confirmation that no further de-veg works will occur in the area, and the area will be cordoned off to protect it from disturbance by children who are currently trampling the sett entrances. Housing Officer responsible for this area is Faith Kirkwood. Residents request a confirmation that works will cease and the proposed ditch will not be created over the sett, as this would be an offence if not formally mitigated.

Blocked/ broken sewer on Waterloo Street, 28th March

Thu, 28 Mar 2024 09:10:51 +0000
51.454818 -2.620024

The sewer block/ collapse outside the Brunel Raj, is, according to one of Wessex Water's employees, probably caused by the restaurant pouring FOG down sinks rather than having it collected. The narrow one way street has been closed causing inconvenience to residents and loss of income to local shop owners. What mechanism is in.place for ascertaining if this was the cause, probable apparently, as the basement was flooded, and what action can be taken?
