Full ditches leading to constant water on the road, 8th April
Road almost always has water flowing across, even after days of no rain. So much so the road has started growing green algae on the surface where the water constantly flows over. During heavy rain, this increases and is multiple inches deep. Ditches and pipes under entrances all need clearing out to stop this happening.

Regular road flooding, 8th April
I've reported this before and it was ignored. This corner floods after very little ran, and stays flooded for more than 24h after the rain stops. There is a drain in the grass that should drain the water out, under the road, and into the ditches on the other side. This is clearly all very blocked up.

Pothole repaired last week recurred. Previous repair looked like they had dumped a wheelbarrow of rubble and a shovel of tarmac and stamped it down! If the council has payed for this they are being robbed!, 19th March

Potholes, 13th March
There are (still) numerous potholes, strips of tarmac washed away and edges falling away within 1km of this locality (too many to report each one individually). Many are in line of tyre and in central area such that cars swerve to avoid them, travelling into the other side of the road (on bend such that it’s into line of travel by oncoming vehicles).

Large pothole opposite crumbling road edge, 11th March
The very large pothole was filled in last year but has reopened in the last month and is now bigger. To get around it you are forced off the edge of the road as it’s a single track lane. The edge now is broken and deep. A rough sharp edge has been formed. This means the road is becoming impassable without damaging cars

Footways reduced in width., 21st February
There is so much mud on the footway on the East side of High Street and South Street in East Hoathly that it is impossible to walk two abreast or use a pushchair. HGVs are always driving over the grass verges making the matters worse. The worse area is between Buttsfield Lane and Juziers Drive and especially outside Lydfords Care Home. It is not helped by lorries going into the home with deliveries..

Road and drainage condition, 29th January
The stretch of rutting in the middle of the road was finally partially filled recently. But some significant potholes in amongst it were left. Ditch digging was carried out as well - it is of questionable value when the base of the ditch dug is higher than the road surface - and when it is not dug far enough to join up with existing ditch a few meters further down. It is easy to question whether the aim of the work is to resolve or exacerbate to lead to further avoidable work/profit creation. Shouldn’t costly p othole filling make things safer? Shouldn’t ditching drain water away from the road, not lead surface water from adjacent land onto it - concentrated in one dodgy area?

Just down from Coopers Cottage, opposite field gate, 7th January
During any substantial rain fall, this part of the road floods over pretty severely. As I understand it, there is a culvert that runs under the road, from the properly towards the fields, where the water should run. I think this is blocked as instead in runs over the road, and builds up causing a flood.

Why leave one deep hole, 27th December
The quality of temporary repairs here has appalled everyone. It seems common (ONLY IN EAST SUSSEX) to see shoddy temporary repairs (with a hole at the edge left to aid the removal of the newly placed tarmac) but this is ridiculous. Nothing done about the drainage issue so water is still going to erode and freeze on a dangerous stretch of road - and they didn’t fill all the deep potholes (see photo). Can I suggest that the management of East Sussex Highways maintenance is taken over by West Sussex. Much seems to be related to quality control (both maintenance work and checking of work done on the roads by utility or other contractors).

Damaged drain cover, 8th November
When ever there's even a moderate amount of rain the water floods out of the manhole cover and across the road making it hazardous to come out of my property unless I wish to risk being soaked when cars race through the flood water

Waldron Road is heavily eroded at the sides due to constant flooding. One long mini river pot hole along the path side., 28th October
It’s been there for years but it’s now much worse due to roadworks on the opposite side pushing heavy vehicles to drive with their tires down the hole causing the road surface much greater damage.

Long deep gouge in road tarmac, 10th August
There is a long trench like area of missing tarmac extending several meters down the road now. Drivers going down the hill go onto the opposite side of the road to avoid it - it is on a slight bend so they end up facing fast car going uphill. It is dangerous and has been getting worse for months.

Spooky plastic type road hump on bridleway, 10th April
As shown in the attached photograph there has been placed a plastic type road hump across a bridleway. My friend and I had a tricky time trying to get our horses over it. It is very spooky to horses as it is coloured and shiny. This sort of thing is not usually found in the countryside. Also as you can see from the photo there are scaffolding type poles along the edge of the grass which can also be dangerous to horses should they spook and land on one.
