Difficult to see area of sunken path that can cause you to lose control and crash, 15th January
This depression is to the left of the manhole cover in the picture. As it's on a downhill run riders relax and then hit it, as it's difficult to see. If you are not holding on to your bars tightly, your hands can come off the bars and you crash into the very rigid safety fence.
This is what happened to me, snapping my frame in half and leaving me with leg and shoulder injuries. I was doing about 20mph at the time.
I've ridden over the area since, deliberately and it still is a surprise when you hit it. This happened at the beginning of October '23 on this brand new, excellent, path next to the A27. Nothing has been done since, but Highways probably not aware.

Vegetation, 13th November
Between the Street, Selmeston and Common Lane. The vegetation and bushes have narrowed the width and headroom of the pavement. making it almost impossible to pass safely with a push chair.

Hedge and verge vegitation., 22nd August
There is a footpath which crosses the A27 opposite the Street Selmeston. The vegetation and hedge towards Eastbourne has overgrown. This has reduced visibility to a dangerous level for both pedestrians and oncoming vehicles. In my estimation one only has about 25meters of visibility. which is insufficient to cross safely. Or for oncoming cars to see pedestrians in the road.

Temporary roadwork sign abandoned, 5th July
A large temporary portable electronic road traffic sign on a portable hook up trailer with wheels has been left in vegetation just off the road for 6-9 months after A27 carriageway work. It is owned by Highways England has a large sign with MVIS and number 7 on the back. It is approximately 4 metres wide by 2 metres high and needs to be taken back to the depot.

Alciston 15b impassable, 21st May
Alciston 15b is completely overgrown with oilseed rape, making it impassable along its entire length. There is also no defined path, the ground being left ploughed and harrowed. Sadly this is a common feature of this section throughout the seasons, and has been for at least 25 years.

No Give Way or Stop signs on cycle track crossing, 30th April
Cyclists cutting across road at speed without looking or stopping on the new cycle path. This path must have cyclist give way signs installed at all road crossings before someone is killed, or barriers erected so they have to slow down. Proper junction markings essential.

Cycle sign pointing in wrong direction, 19th April
The signage on the north side of the road here directs cyclists west to Laughton, although the way is to the north. The sign for motorists on the a27 correctly points north. The route to the north is on quiet lanes, whilst any route to the west would involve a long diversion on some main roads

Series of potholes close to drain covers, 27th March
Every Drain cover on this section of road has a big pothole next to it. On my car with small wheels I have to avoid by going into the centre of the road. This has been like this for weeks and needs urgent repair.
