Rough surface of road from Beddingham Roundabout to Ripe Lane, 12th March
The A27 Highway from Beddingham roundabout to Middle Farm is now worse and rougher before the works were done. It is particularly bad between Firle junction and Ripe Lane on the North side. This is a shame as it is worse than before the work was undertaken

Potholes/Bad Road Surface, 14th February
I have tried reporting this on line but the system won't allow it ( ie is this dangerous -Yes). You then have to telephone which is not answered. The stretch of road on the A27 from Polegate travelling West towards Lewes IS dangerous, especially for motor cyclists travelling at night. Not to mention damage to suspensions. Vehicles are swerving to avoid these deep potholes, plus the recent flooding.

Uneven Suface, 18th December
Subject: Complaint about Poor Quality Road Resurfacing
Dear National Highways,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the recently resurfaced road on A27 between Fly Sussex Paragliding and Mid Farm, which I believe is of extremely poor quality. The road resurfacing project was meant to improve the condition of the road, but unfortunately, it has resulted in an even more problematic and uncomfortable driving experience.
The first issue I would like to address is the severe bumpiness of the road. The newly resurfaced surface seems uneven and lacks the smoothness one would expect from a fresh road. I kindly request that you take immediate action to rectify this problem and ensure a smooth and safe driving environment.
Furthermore, the joint points on the resurfaced road are excessively rough, causing significant discomfort and inconvenience during travel. It is alarming to see such poor workmanship in a project that was presumably intended to enhance the road conditions. The rough joints may also contribute to additional wear and tear on vehicles, leading to unwanted expenses for residents. I urge you to investigate these joint points and implement repairs to ensure a higher quality road surface.
Considering the substandard condition of the recently resurfaced road, I am concerned about its durability in the long run. If the road is already displaying signs of poor quality within a short period, it raises doubts about its ability to withstand regular usage and changing weather conditions. I am worried that the road will deteriorate at an accelerated rate, causing even more inconvenience and safety hazards for everyone using it. I kindly request that you assess the quality and integrity of the road and take necessary measures to reinforce it if needed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon and witnessing improvements in the road conditions.
Yours sincerely, Oner Ozdamar

No signs at all to Glynde and no brown signs to Glyndebourne, 5th December
There are absolutely no signs at this fatal road junction...where is the Glynde sign? You very wrongly say there are brown signs to Glyndebourne.....no there are not. Nothing exists at this fatal junction. Please have a look in the interests of saving lives. At least, the village of Glynde and its railway station should be signed from the A27.

No sign to Glyndebourne from m busy A27, 2nd December
Lots of vehicles regularly go to and from Glyndebourne from the incredibly busy A27 but there are no road direction signs. People are braking hard and turning around on the fatal A27 to get to the correct junction. Please install signs pointing to Glyndebourne urgently. You might see it as appropriate to add lighting at this hidden but busy junction, often used by elderly patrons of the opera. Thanks very much for saving lives.

Water run off from farmland, 16th November
I reported by telephone on 14/11/23 my observations of the road condition when driving south yesterday on the A 26 at approximately midday.
There had been no physical rain for many hours and the roads were generally dry but after leaving the A27 at the Beddingham roundabout on to the A 26 towards Newhaven soon after the St Andrews Church turn off, the road was awash with water across both carriageways from what appeared to be run off from the land on the left hand side.
I also saw what appeared to be a deep hole in the southern carriageway approximately 300mm in diameter and a quarter to one third in from the verge. It was not possible to determine the actual depth of this hole as it contained water but would surely be a considerable danger to any motor cycle and potentially very damaging to any vehicle wheels unfortunate enough to run over it.
I believe the water run off has been in existence for a number of years and can be a hazard at any time of the year but as we approach winter the opportunity for this section of road to freeze into a lake of ice when the surrounding road surfaces are clear must constitute very real life threatening conditions to even the most careful of drivers.
Please advise on the actual state of the hole and whether it has been needed repair.
Also please advise on what actions have been taken to stop the water run off across the road from the adjoining farmland.
Shall we wait until someone is killed before some drainage is put in place?
I look forward to receiving your observations and actions for this section of the A26.
