West Tarring also has a health centre, library and two churches.

The majority of BN44 is urban with limited green spaces. The area is home to Wild Park, the city's only wild deer park, as well as a number of wildlife reserves and allotments. The coast features Beach Green, Worthing pier, Saltdean lido and a long stretch of beach at Goring-by-Sea.

The postcode district is served by two railway lines, operated by Thameslink and Southern, which connect the major towns and cities of the south coast. The area also includes Durrington-on-Sea railway station, for direct access to London Victoria. BN44 is served by a number of bus routes connecting the towns and villages with each other, Eastbourne and Brighton.

BN44 postcodes within Worthing include three schools (Haven High Academy, Hillside and Shoreham Beach), as well as the Durrington and Worthing language college. Nearby is the historic town of Lancing, home to Shoreham Air Base, the coastal village of Shoreham-by-Sea and the city centre of Brighton.

The area is a popular destination for tourists, with attractions such Saltdean lido, Worthing pier and Beach Green offering year-round entertainment. Residents can also enjoy a wide range of bars and restaurants, as well as a buzzing arts and culture scene, with the AA Milne Theatre hosting a number of world-class performances each year.
