J9 joining M6 southbound faded white line marking end of slip road, 1st April
Joining the M6 southbound at junction 9 the left hand lane is a long slip road. The lane marking on the right hand side eventually turns from a dashed white line into a solid white line and it becomes the hard shoulder but the diagonal white line across to mark the transition from slip road to hard shoulder has faded. The problem is this lane on approach to junction 8 then turns back to a dashed white line and it becomes the slip road again for the M5 so vehicles often go the whole way from J9 to J8 in the far left lane thinking they are in the exit lane for the M5 because of the dashed line from J9 but not realising the lane has changed to the hard shoulder and they should only merge left to J8 after the hard shoulder section in between. This is an issue when the smart motorway overhead gantry isn’t running and doesn’t say if the far left lane is closed or open.

Overhanging trees, leaves creating chaos especially in high winds, 19th September
Trees are touching across main road, way to close to houses, nobody wants to do anything about them. Roots under houses and in drains. Leaves block drains and gutters, this is not just the front of house, the trees are so large now it seriously affects the back gardens too. We have no sunlight in the house at all, trees completely block the sun. These are the councils responsibility not ours. Our house has become damp because of these trees. It is also well known that these type of trees cause very bad allergies, the dust from them is totally inexcusable. Something needs to be done. When it’s windy we have boughs hitting cars. They are full of pigeons, so we have to park our cars under these trees and they are covered in bird droppings, extremely unhealthy especially with bird flu so prevalent round here. We have asked year after year to do something with these trees, but the people who reside on this road now have no pride in there homes and basically couldn’t care less. Resident of 37 years.
