Historically, West Bromwich has a long association with the world-renowned inventor and businessman Matthew Boulton, who lived and worked in Wednesbury. It is also the birthplace of the world's first Industrial Revolution, with the world's first commercial ironworks situated here in the 17th century.

There are a number of local schools in the B63 postcode area, including the high-achieving secondary establishments of Wednesbury Oak Park School and Queen Mary's Grammar School, as well as the popular primary school of Ocker Hill Infants.
