For recreational activities, Alvechurch boasts a large leisure centre and swimming pool, as well as a local golf course. There are also plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes in the area for shoppers and visitors to enjoy.
In terms of education, Alvechurch has a mix of schools, including a local primary school and a secondary academy. There are also two colleges nearby offering vocational selected skills-based courses. For those keen on further education, the University of Birmingham is just 30 minutes away from Alvechurch and offers numerous postgraduate and undergraduate options.
The area is also home to a range of industries, from small bands to larger manufacturing companies, with Alvechurch's own business park at Cranes Hill offering employment opportunities for a variety of specialism within the local community. Finally, the town has a vibrant shopping scene – from independent shops to larger stores – as well as a regular Sunday farmers' market, held close to the cathedral.
