The area is served by train services from Longbridge Train Station on the Cross City Line with regular services to Birmingham New Street and Redditch. The area is well connected by bus services too, with routes 52 and 25 running through.

The area is home to two park and ride sites, Kings Heath and Brandwood Park, offering a convenient way for residents and visitors to access Birmingham city centre and nearby towns. The area is home to many shops, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as leisure and entertainment venues. There are several local sports clubs, and a cinema at West Heath Shopping Centre.

Education in the area is served by several primary and secondary schools, namely Kings Norton Primary, St Lawrence Primary, Perry Hall Primary, St Thomas Aquinas Secondary and Bournville Primary. Birmingham City University, Shepherd's Bush Primary and Sixth Form College and The Village are also located nearby.

The area is also home to a number of churches, such as Kings Norton Baptist and The New Testament Church of God, as well as mosques, such as Kings Heath Mosque and Green Lane Masjid. There are plenty of open spaces, grass fields and nature reserves such as Kings Norton Nature Reserve, providing plenty of green space for local residents. The area also hosts regular community events.
