The TQ3 postcode area covers Torquay and neighbouring Torbay, located in the South West of England in Devon. The Torquay postcode was introduced back in 1807 by the Royal Mail and since then, numerous area variations have been created to avoid confusion and enable efficient post service delivery.

All surrounding towns and villages within the district are covered by the postcode, including: Paignton, Torbay, Totnes, Kingskerswell, Kingswear, Churston Ferrers, Stoke Gabriel, Galmpton, Cockington, Marldon and Brixham. The Torquay postcode is also home to other areas, such as the likes of Torquay's Harbourside promenade, Rock Walk and harbour; Preston Sands and Paignton Zoo.

Aside from its rich maritime history, the area is largely surrounded by picturesque rural countryside and traditional English gardens. From boat trips along the River Dart to exotic views and beaches, this regions well-known coastal resort offers a wide range of local amenities and nearby attractions to explore.

As a proud seaside resort, the average summer highs and winter lows are specific to the postcode. The temperatures reach a peak of 20-24 degrees Celsius in July and August with lows of 3-6 Celsius in December and February. It is also important to note that the area is served by the TQ postcode prefix, alongside the Dartmouth, Salcombe and Plymouth postcodes.

One of the main landmarks of Torquay is the Riviera Centre which is located within quarters of the TQ3 postcode. From its local theatre, art galleries, nightlife spot and shopping sites, this centre is greatly integrated into Torquay's culture and tourism industry. Torquay also extends further up on its social front; it is home to multiple schools, both primary and secondary, such as Shiphay Learning Academy, St Cuthbert Mayne Catholic School and Churston Ferrers Grammar School.

Furthermore, Torquay is well-known for its transport links. Linked by the A38, the Torbay ring road, bus routes and an extensive cycle network, it makes it an easy access for tourists and locals. Torbay also has Torquay Railway Station which is connected to the London Paddington line, making it convenient for commuters and visitors to explore surrounding areas.
