The majority of B78 postcode district is within the bounds of the administrative county of Warwickshire, with the exception of a small part on the east side that is within the area of Staffordshire. Within the B78 postcode district there are several small hamlets including Baxterley, Drumcree, Hopwas and Fazeley.

At its centre lies the market town of Tamworth. It is home to Tamworth Castle, Snowdome, Reindeer Lodge, Drayton Manor Theme Park and many other attractions. In addition, Tamworth also has a vibrant shopping and retail industry, with retail and leisure parks at Ventura Park, Riverside and Ankerside, along with the newly re-vamped Ankerside Shopping Centre.

Tamworth Train Station is located at the heart of Tamworth, and offers excellent connections to Birmingham New Street, Lichfield and Crewe. In addition, the district is well serviced with local bus routes, provided by National Express West Midlands.

The area is extremely popular among family buyers, being close to the A5 trunk road for easy commuting. Nearby Alvecote Woods and Grendon Lakes Nature Reserve are popular with walkers and birdwatchers, as was the former Fazeley Canal with its adjacent riverside walks. There is also a variety of schools, including Queen Mary's Grammar School, for school age children.
