Educationally, the area offers several options including the University of Swansea, Swansea Metropolitan University, and Gower College Swansea. There is also a sports and recreation centre, Mayhill Golf Club, and a number of parks, including Parkmill and Hendy Mill.

There are two main local hospitals in the area, including Singleton Hospital and Morriston Hospital, providing medical care to residents of the area. Religious institutions can be found close by, including the Morriston Congregational Church, St John's church, and the Penyrheol church.
